When I power down my AWD w/ 4K and FX4, I hear a metal rotational shutter sound. Hard to pinpoint the location, but seems to be in the rear of the truck.

I'm also realizing that when I'm braking and coming into lower speeds (<15mph), I can faintly hear the sound. Hard to match up, but think it goes in line with when the truck re-engages AWD.

What is that noise? If it's common, others with the same powertrain and AWD must be hearing it when turning off their Maverick. If it's not common, I need to get it checked out.

I can confirm it's not the active shutters on the front of the hood.

Sounds like something from my old "Battle Chess" video game ;) I have the same set up, and have never heard that.

One of the sounds seems like the E brake applying. If your in all wheel drive when you shut the vehicle off then you might be hearing the RDU disengaging and reverting back to normal mode. Not sure.

powering off at zero speed activates the parking brake.
RDU/PTU shouldn't be engaged during normal driving. whether it engages at shutdown isn't known, maybe.
<15mph deceleration sound? the only thing I know that's happening at that point is maybe a transmission down shift. should be silent but probably felt.

Mine makes the same sound at shutdown; I just thought it was normal, quirky character of the truck. It’s done it since delivery over a year ago

I've never heard that sound on mine.
Do you have auto-hold engaged?

I haven't heard it but I took delivery a month ago and my a/c is usually still blasting when I turn it off.

Whatever the sound is, it makes it again upon restart, even when not being moved or having had the chance to use the awd. Cold starts of mavericks on YouTube appear to make the same sound; I’m inclined to think it’s just a characteristic of the truck

Hey there. I can look into your Maverick’s noise concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership info?

I hear the whine but not the link. Hmmm, I’ll try listening with the window down and see if mine does it. So far I don’t think mine makes that link sound.

I hear the whine but have not heard the klunk sound at the end. I’ll try listening with the window down. I’m under the impression that AWD is always engaged. It’s not the same as 4WD that is engaged under certain conditions. I’ve had a 4WD before and you don’t drive with it all the time. AWD is constantly engaged. There is a difference.
