An XL with CP360 is still better value than a base XLT IMO. Hard to believe that with The XL 150 being a best seller, Ford did not plan on more XL Mavericks.
I think that most of the XL's are going to fleet buyers! Ford should make more of them.

They are federally mandated on all new vehicles sold in United States. The law was passed to ensure all 2018 or newer vehicles have them.

All passenger vehicles since 2018 come with a backup camera by law.

The XLT isn’t worth the upgrade in my opinion unless you plan on the adding the additional packages. A lot of the basic upgrades you can do yourself.

I plan on adding the bed cubbies, Power tailgate, & new wheels to my XL order and it will be around $1700 cheaper
Yep this is the secret sauce that the XLT and Lariat trim levels unlock. The Mav we ordered in '21 was for my wife. It was her first new vehicle in 12 years.

After 12 years of driving a Pontiac Vibe she wanted more so we optioned the Lux package on our build. We live in a northern climate and she loves the heated options that the Lux package offers. The power drivers seat it another nice little bonus she likes among other things the Lux package offered for the 22MY builds.

Anyway, I agree with your post about not needing to upgrade to the XLT unless you want to add packages that are not available on the XL trim level.

This is a bit misleading IMO. The rear view camera or back up camera as it is sometimes called is not really part of the CP360 option. While Ford may package it that way on the order guild you do not have to purchase the CP360 option in order to get the rear view camera.

Like me and @LSchicago already mentioned the federal government already mandated rear view cameras on all 2018 or newer vehicles. They are not optional equipment like CP360 they are standard equipment.

You are one of the lucky ones. Congrats! Looks like it will be well over a year for me to get an Ecoboost.
I figured it would take a year. I didn't need a vehicle, so I was willing to wait for it. My current daily will go many more years. The Maverick Hybrid is the first vehicle that made me want it when I didn't need it in 15 years. I'm glad I wasn't pushed to 2024. There is nothing new, and a few downgrades.

I guess I just don't understand the XL vs XLT vs Lariat angst. If a XL fits your needs for a "blank canvas" to start with, go for it. At my age (66), I'm more interested in certain creature comforts, and I'm willing to pay for them.

Buy what suits your needs (and budget).

After adding the CP360 on my XL which gives the power mirrors, adding 18" aluminum wheels, a Gloss black grille bar and changing the fender badges the only things I would've gained by going to an XLT are:

Power tailgate lock, wiper activated lights. Rear cupholders and armrest. Perimeter alarm. Not one item I feel I need. The back seat will rarely ever even be sat in. And as a bonus, I get black seats.

Cost of wheels & tires, Gloss black grill bar overlays, and fender badges: $900. Minus the $400-$500 for my take off steelie's complete, and the up grades are no more than $500 compared to $2,300? More for the XLT. Adding some STX decals, Tailgate letters, and a few other accessories and I still save $1,500 over an XLT, and have what I want. XLT made no sense for me.

They really don't want to sell XL's :)
2022 no Cruise Control

That didn't work ... Then ...

Their insanity in 2023 was to include Cruise Control - this compounded peoples expectations of getting a truck in a a timely manner

They don't want to sell XL's

It is all marketing and perception ;) IMHO

Using money and budjet wisely My XL looks better than a lariet , - could have almost bought 2 XlL's once you load up up a lariat lux - and I didn't need bells and whistles ....... go figure ... My Story and I'm sticking to IT ... LOVE My Maverick

Cheers
I support this story. Love my XL EB FWD.
