There’s proof that non-unionized companies have higher overall production than unionized over a period of many years. Most non-unionized companies today have benefits and pay that are the same or better than unionized.
Non union pay and benefits were fought for by the union shops.

I was a union member for over 30 years.I retired when I was 53 and have a great healthcare plan and pension
Amen! I was sworn into my trade when I was 19 years old. And made a living wage for 33 years. Retired when I was 52 and living very comfortably from a union pension. We basically patrolled our own. If you didn’t cut it, You didn’t get to work very much. I will always support legitimate unions.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, is my unhinged and panic-fueled reaction:

That's it, I'm going to park the Mav in my garage, throw a cover over it, and walk everywhere. Between people driving like idiots trying to hit me and the manufacturers finding new and innovative ways to squeeze supply down a trickle, this is becoming alarming.

Thank you for witnessing my panic attack. DVDs with a recording of me screaming and running around with my hands over my head are available for sale in the lobby.
I agree. Especially with people driving like idiots.

Where’s the proof?

Unions are cancer. They hurt the brand, and it's products, customers, and most of the brands workers. Just keep in mind the main reason brands are moving manufacturing out of N. America has to do with the fact that it's getting too expensive to build stuff here. Unions are largely to blame for that. They keep pushing for more and more, their greed never satisfied, until a brand goes under or closes that plant.
Unions built this country and when the unions starting losing handle on things is when corporate America start screwing over all the people that were fueling the success of companies. Its time to wake up, corporate America right now is taking advantage of us and reeping all kinds of benefits due to the outrageous inflation numbers

You my friend are way out of line. Unions built this country. I am a proud retired union ironworker and we build skyscrapers and bridges. This country would not be what it is without unions!
There seems to be some misinterpretation that I dislike hard workers and ever single union that has ever existed, that's absurd. It's pretty clear by my comment that I'm against overly greedy and demanding unions. Because they're one of the most destructive forces to America. Reasonable unions are fine, nothing wrong with reasonable expectations. But the ones who keep demanding more and more are largely responsible for jobs being sent to other nations.

Everyone likes to pretend that they support made in America goods, but the reality is most people don't like to pay that premium. Hell, I'm willing to bet a solid 25% of the people on these forums wouldn't have bought a maverick if it was built in the United States and as such, was 3-5 grand more expensive. It's simple economics, if your workers keep demanding substantial raises in pay, you have to keep raising the prices of your goods and services. But that's an issue when some of your competitors aren't unionized, so they can undercut you on price. That's one reason why Tesla can make their cars so affordable, yet still be insanely profitable.

Essentially, I view unions in a similar fashion to religion, or marriage. In moderation/balance, it's good for society. But when pushed to the extreme, it's detrimental to the world around us. By all accounts, auto worker unions are less akin to chilled out mormons trying to make the world a better place, and more like fire and brimstone Baptists who just make the world more miserable for everyone around them. These unions I'm talking about are on that extreme end of the spectrum, as such, they're detrimental to society. I just have a strong distain for most extremes in life, unions, religion, politics, societal values, money, I just don't like it. I don't like seeing a union that's so demanding that it kills a company, or an entire industry little by little.

The same can be said for non-union workers. I've been in the IT space for the last 35 years and during that time worked for three different companies. All paid top wages, had great benefits, investments and stock options. I'm still working as I like what I do and I work from home. Plan to retire in another 4-5 years.

Back to the OP’s title about the wait.

Just read that trade in values dropped 16% since the first of the year. Values will go much lower by the end of the year.

New car prices are dropping as well for the vehicles nobody wants or can afford.

Changing an order in the middle of all this downturn could prove very costly if you are trading in.

At this point, my (once high value), trade-in coupled with the higher 2024 prices has almost negated the amount I paid over MSRP for buying one off the lot early in the year.

Depending where vehicles are and how long strike last, I had a GM vehicle sit at Lansing assembly (just waiting shipment.) for months as the Teamsters would not cross UAW picket lines. Once the vehicle gets to the US if Teamsters are involved it could sit.

Is the Hermosillo plant unionized? I understand that a strike/work stoppage (might) affect parts suppply, but assembly could continue unabated barring parts shortages.
that is correct. while the Hermosillo Plant workers arnt covered by the UAW a UAW strike could potentially affect the supply of some of the the parts needed for production that are produced at US plants and shipped down to Mexico . i have no idea of what % of USA sourced parts are needed for Maverick or Bronco production but i would think that it's not an insignificant amount.
