My sister and mother in law both have it beeping on their vehicle. Problem is we all live off road and every time they put their vehicle in reverse on our property and driveway the alarm goes off. If our Tremor did that I would be very annoyed especially when I was in Moab. As if the camera isn't enough, I think better driving practices and the fear of the consequences of mistakes makes us better on the road.

Kind of irrelevant when it comes to an audible back up alarm that has existed on many vehicles, mainly big trucks for a long time. It's not about what you see, it's the idiot that refuses to pay attention as much as you are. Too many variables in parking lots to account for to dismiss it's usefulness and associate the lack of it with possibly being more attentive at the wheel. You can be in a complete 180 watching behind you and someone is still going to pop out of nowhere when backing up between two bigger vehicles and not even look at you even though they see you in their peripherals before you can see them. With or without it, it's really not about how much the driver is paying attention, it's to alert others to pay attention as well.

I'll take that trade off any day in this world where people don't look where they are walking because they are staring at a phone instead. At least the chances of them noticing a vehicle in reverse increase.

The backup sound on the Hybrid isn't for other drivers, it's for blind people. ;) Now should drivers be watching for pedestrians? Of course. Still if the truck was dead silent they could still walk behind it without knowing it was there, no matter how good the driver is.

My previous hybrid predated the sound making mandates, I had people walk out in front of me all the time in parking lots. It was funny to see them freak out went my brakes engaged when I tried to avoid hitting them.

Yet another item that costs money for people that complain the truck already costs too much. Read the posts and if Ford put in everything they think should be included you would have a $35,000 base price.

I would bet you have an audible alert. I have the back up camera and when on and someone or something goes behind the Maverick it goes off. Have someone walk behind the truck with it in reverse I bet it goes off.
Nope. What your are referring to is cross traffic alert which I have. I do not have the proximity sensor which increase beep rate the closer you get to something.

The post I was quoting which is gone now mentioned that their fleet ordered XL's (which are able to option the reverse sensors) also have cross-traffic alert. Cross-traffic alert is a CP360 feature and all trim levels can option CP360.

As long as we are making a list of things for the government to require.

A front camera should be required too. So you can see short people who are not tall enough to be seen over the top of the hood. and it would help in tight parking places.

Paddle shifters should be required. This would help to slow the truck on long descents with out the brakes over heating. The low setting reves the engine way to high and slows the truck more than needed.

The gas filler door should lock, it does on the hybrid so it can be done but for security all cars should do that.

Full size spare tire add that to the list of requirements.

The oil filter should be required to be in an easy to reach spot so you don't need to pull off all these under-body panels.

drain and fill plugs should be on all transmissions. And they should have easy to change external filters.

The power transfer unit (PTU) should have easy drain and fill plugs.

The cooling system should have easy drain and fill plugs.

And there should be sensors so you are alerted any time any of these things is low or over full.

Oil fill lever sensor required.

PTU fill lever sensor required.

Differential fill lever sensor required.

Coolant fill lever sensor required.

A trailer hitch should be required too. I cant believe it is not standard.

AM and FM radio required. But it sounds like that requirement will soon be law.

recovery points should be required. no one plans on getting stuck or there car breaking down but it will happen and some of these cars make it so hard to load them on a flat bed.

Auto high beam headlights should be standard, too many cars drive around with the brights on all the time blinding other people. Some system to stop that should be standard.

Auto dimming rear view mirror should be standard, If you can buy one for 15$ off the internet why is it not standard?

dash cameras should be standard. There already is a camera behind the mirror so it is just software needed to record the video that is all ready there.

anti-theft systems, and location tracking should be standard. In the Mavrick tracking is already standard you can see your trucks location on the ford pass app any time but it should be like that for all cars, if the lowest priced truck can have it, why not everyone?

Lets make wheel bolt spacing standard required. I have had 5 lug wheels on more than one car and they are always different by a few mm. If you had a flat you could use a spare from another car because they would all be the same. cost would go down as there would be one part to make.

north korea has a hairstyle law allowing only certain styles of hair. cost savings, keeps people from being singled out for being out of style. Drivers should have required hair styles so as not to distract them as they drive.

Lots of people are posting about upgrading the tires on their truck. If they came with better tires to start with this would not be needed. think of all the waist in replacing new but under size or poor tires. Require bigger better tires by law.

Lifts and lowering kits are popular but it would be easier if this was required from the factory. no more safety or reliability problems from a low quality lift or lower kit

Ford keeps dropping the car color you want, all car colors should be available by law all the time.

spare light bulbs should be required. they burn out when you need them most and stores are closed, driving around with burned out lights is very unsafe.

Drowsy Driver Alert, it knows if you close your eyes and wakes you up.

This is just the start I am sure we can come up with a list of thousands of things to require. Add your own to this list.

Thank you

Can you not see via the mirrors & the windows & the backup camera?
Audible is a huge difference. I have it on my Edge and it is great. It sees better to the side then you can especially around hedges, etc.

Sounds good! If they make everything required for everybody it should be relatively cheap...
