I think Toyota's history of wretched styling is the only thing keeping them from taking over the world..... 🤮

Starting a timer on how long until we start seeing the front end Photoshopped onto a Maverick to be billed as the Toyota Stout (which will SHOCK the entire auto industry and DESTROY Ford Maverick!).

Land Cruiser 2024
approach angle of 30 degrees
departure 22
break-over angle 25
ground clearance 8.7
(numbers from car and driver)

Maverick Tremor
Approach 30.7
departure angle 22.2

break-over angle 19.9
ground clearance 9.4

So the Maverick Tremor is doing really well or the new Land Cruiser is a bit disappointing?
The new Land Cruiser is more competition for a Bronco sport and not a real bronco or a wrangler.

But for what most people do it will be great. It is an improvement over the old one. Maybe a TRD version will come with bigger tires more clearance?

A 4 cylinder in that large of a truck? I drive a hybrid and even I would want more power.

The theory I've heard is that the 4Runner is probably going to get redesigned to to lean more into being a dedicated offroader.

Honestly, it's not bad. With the average new car price being close to $50K this isn't outrageous. Curious to see what kind of MPGs it can deliver.

The Autopian reported the Toyota website somewhere claims 27 MPG combined.

Which also could be interpreted as the ballpark for the 2024 Tacoma with similar powerplant.

The last LC we got in 2021 (the big 200 Series) started at $85k. This new 250 Series LC starting at mid $50k isn’t too unreasonable given that the average new car prices are now in the $40k and above range.

This new LC (250 Series Prado, not the big flagship 300 Series that we don’t get here) sits between the 4Runner and Sequoia in size, it’s bigger than the BS and unlike the unibody BS the LC is still body-on-frame.

The next 4Runner should be the SUV version of the new Tacoma with most of the Tacoma’s running gear and TRD Pro trims, and compete with Bronco and Wrangler.
