Installed my recently purchased take off XLT wheels for my XL today. Thanks to the folks on this forum I now understand the proper lug nuts and thread pitch for our trucks. I have to say my lug nuts on the OEM steelies were not at 148 foot pounds. I had my torque wrench set to 150fp and tried to tighten on the steelies lugs and I was able to get a good 1/4 turn on them before my wrench clicked. Could this be because they needed to be retorqued after original install??? Maybe....My truck has about 1800 miles on it. It just felt so wrong to torque those new wheels on at 148 foot pounds. Anyway I purchased black lug nuts and I am happy that I did...I think they give they follow through with the black trim of the XL. I will include before, during, and after pics. I will be posting my steelies for sale tonight. I think they are worth $500 with the ATPMS sensors in.......we shall see.

Yea the torque should always be rechecked after a couple short trips, about 50 miles or so.

Looks good! Best color Maverick for the win!

Looks good. Great improvement. Up here north of the woodchucks steelies rust fast so they need to be dipped and basically used for winter rubber. Fleet wheels. On top of all that they just look horrible. :sneaky:

It will be interesting when I check mine after a while to see if they loosened up a bit. Of course my 10 year old Craftsman torque wrench might need to be calibrated as well. I might have to buy one of those torqueometer thingamajigs and check my wrench for accuracy.

Looks good, always dial your torque wrench way back for storage to retain accuracy..

good luck

I took it in to Ted Britt Chantilly back in early May for a blown 12v flexbed fuse. Kind of silly on my part since it was my bad accessory. Learning curve.

Anyhow, when I got home from the dealership, I checked the lug nuts. All 20 lugs were loose, so I tightened 'em. That was at 3 months 2k miles. I'm pretty sure half of MTC is driving around with loose lugs.
