Are you getting locked out of your Maverick?

Is anyone having problems being locked out of their Maverick? Just started happening, truck not running, key in ignition. I’m walking toward vehicle and I hear the truck lock. Neighbor with Maverick had the same issue. This is the first time for The Maverick. My Ford Transit Connect did the same thing, fairly regularly. Ended up getting a glovebox key to keep in my wallet. Dealer had no idea and of course it never happens at dealers. Decided to try rebooting van. DisconnectEd battery let it sit a bit then reconnected. Solved the issue for about 8 months. Repeated process. Seems to be working now over a year.

could it be someone in area has a key close by with the same codes? Doesn’t have to be a Maverick although I would think Ford would have built something into codes to prevent it. I take it you don’t have keyless entry?

Not yet but it's definitely watching me. Makes all kinds of clicky noises when I'm around it lol. It's usually if I just closed the doors or something, but it doesn't auto lock. I'm not even sure what it's doing. My escape hybrid did the same thing. Like it's constantly sensing the keys in it's perimeter or something.

I did have an issue with the door not unlocking as I touched it once, but I reset it by deactivating intelligent access then reactivating it in the gauge cluster settings under vehicle - locks - intelligent access.

I don't remember if there is a setting for an auto lock while inside the vehicle but if there is, I'd suspect it should only do it once you are driving?

If you don't have keyless entry and need to use a key, I suggest hiding a copy in a magnetic stash box somewhere like under the wheel well lining inside the bumper.

This happened to me over the weekend. Key was in the ignition. The tailgate was even down. The rear doors were unlocked, so I was able to get in this way. Very strange. I need to reset the entry code on the door for the future. I also hear lots of clicking at various times.

Also, the head unit sometimes seems to have a life of its' own. In my CRV, you hold the volume button and the unit reboots. Anyway to reboot the head unit/LCD screen in the Maverick?

Assuming you have an XL with no keypad on the door pillar. Otherwise would not be a big deal.

FWIW, have not had this happen with my truck.

Bbisis13, let us know how this works out. There are posts on this forum that quite often the "For Motor Company Official Account" results in nothing.

Driving me nuts, been able to seemie predict that it could happen. Bad cell service area is my general trend. Accidentally using Ford App, pocket lock like butt dial etc. Remote start always locks doors. Scheduled remote start locks doors.

I haven't gotten locked out of the Mav but it has locked itself multiple times. I've got about 2200 at this point. Earlier today drivers door open, tailgate open, working in the bed, key in the ignition, I heard it lock itself.
I've gotten locked out of cars too many times. If the key is in the ignition at least 1 window is down far enough to get back in.

My 2000 Taurus won’t even allow locking if the key is in the ignition.
