Pictured is my 2022 Hybrid. In the first picture you see (marked with blue tape) what I believe is the driver's side factory installed tie down bracket used when transporting the truck. It's a triangular bracket, its tab inserts into a hole in the truck frame, then bolts to another threaded hole in the frame, the bolt is evident.

The 2nd picture (marked with blue tape) is the passenger side w/o a bracket. It appears the bracket was installed but removed perhaps in the dealer PDI as the the threaded hole clearly has shiny wear marks from a bolt being installed/removed and is just above the blue tape.

I will be be picking up my 2023 Hybrid soon and may just load it on one of my trailers for the 200 mile trip home...

Could a few of you 2023 (or 2022) Hybrid owners please glance up under the rear of your truck and let me know if one/both/none of your brackets are installed. My hope is that both are installed and shipped with the truck, and if so, I'll ask my dealer not to remove them so I can use them as rear attachment points for the trip home...

thank you Very Much

This is going to turn in a mess. When I transport cars I try to connect my straps to something on the frame or axles. That way the suspension can do it’s job. Not at home so cannot look at my truck. Wheel straps are very good if you are going to transport a lot.

LOL, there will be no mess.

If you are connecting to the frame you are (partially) compressing the suspension which is different than attaching to the unsprung axle..... Factories generally ship vehicles with frame attachment points..

I generally use wheel/tire straps on the front and the factory frame mounts at the back...I've towed my original Shelby's, BOSS cars, CJ cars, Viper, Pantera, etc. dozens of times, I suspect I can safely tow this Maverick.... ;)

Usually only the driver's side bracket is present.
Yep, but it's interesting that the passenger side has the exact same frame mounting provision and threaded hole and the threads have absolutely been used. You can even see that somewhat in the 2nd pic... thanks

This bracket is only attached on the left-hand side, and was not designed for tie-downs or recovery hooks. Recovery tie-down provisions are designed into the frame rails in the form of oval holes.

What is the purpose of the bracket, why the lower oval hold at the bottom? It's curious that (at least on my current '22) the threaded frame hole on the passenger side has definitely been used.... and on the existing bracket, there is some wear on the lower oval mounting hole.

Is the bracket there to protect the fuel tank from the exhaust pipe in the event of a rear collision? IDK. Odd that the oval hole in the bracket is the exact size as the oval frame holes used for hooks.

I have RTJ chain clusters if needed for the frame holes if I need to go that route...

thanks

Mine has the bracket on only the drivers side as well. Maybe the bracket on the passenger side is used at the factory for the machines to lift / spin the frame during assembly and is removed after final assembly while the drivers side is left for freight purposes. Only a guess on my part.

I remember watching a ford factory maverick assembly video on youtube a while back...maybe it will show the brackets in use. Ill see if i can find it again.

Edit: here is the video...

Just guessing -- The passenger side rear bracket is removed because it is easy and safe for shippers to remove BUT the drivers side bracket is left on truck because of its proximity to the possibly hot exhaust near it or most likely the passenger side is designed for the tie down crew to stick a nipple through drivers bracket and tie truck down using chain or cable attached bar with nipple and designed so that crew won't tie drivers side down in a manner that might harm the exhaust.....🤷🤷🤷

it sure doesn't look very "beefy" to me. There is only 1 bolt to the unibody/frame? I would not tie it down from there.

It's triangulated and relatively stout for what it is... The bracket has a tab that slides up into one frame hole and locks in place when the large bolt is inserted and tightened... so there are 2 attachment points...

(Over the ) Wheel/tire straps for the front for me, with or without E-track. I find E-track works well with very low cars with large spoilers.

Couldn't you get an eye bolt with the same thread as the pax side hole and screw it in to make a tie down?
