Can anyone recommend a good set of tie down straps? I don’t need anything heavy duty.

There are so many options - weight limit, strap length, and the ratchets come with or without "comfort" grips. I'd say go to Walmart and see their usually large selection or check on Amazon/eBay.

I bought a set of 4 straps at HomeDepot for $5 on black friday. Work fine. Also have some nicer ones from Harbor Freight I bought over a decade ago that have held up very well,

I got a pair from Harbor Freight with a 400lb limit for maybe 3 bucks. I never haul around anything heavy or with the tailgate down, I just need to occasionally keep things from rolling around or jumping a bit. They're not even ratcheting.

Great info all! The Rhino set on Amazon looked nice, but for my needs a cheaper set will do fine.

I got these from Harbor Freight about 15 years ago, have used them many times, they work great. I think I paid $8 or $9 back then.

That's what I was going to get before I opted for the cheaper ratchetless version.

My boss has a pack of those he uses on his trailer. Like me, he hauls around mostly light stuff he doesn't want rolling around or jumping, and they work great.

Only problem I have with them is those tiny little ratchets can be a bit of a pain, but since the only alternative is to step up to big boy ratchets that cost 50 bucks, its not really a big deal.

I've been eyeing something like these
Significantly more expensive than normal tie downs, but I feel like them being retractable would make them way more convenient to use

I haul stuff (mostly motorcycles) all the time and bought these "self retracting" straps a few years ago from Amazon. $29.00 (returned item price). They're an over-killed for most, but not having to cut/shorten straps, no rewinding of straps was worth it to me, no limit on what they can handle. Press the Red Button and they retract. My $10-$15 HF and Wallyworld straps worked fine but always wore out in 1 or 2 years...these will last a life-time. I could tow another vehicle with these.

I love rope ratchets for average everyday tie down use. They are quick to tighten and release. They come in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sizes. You can create your own length by using shorter rope or longer rope.
