I would expect they were sent to the crusher. The dealers who were to receive them wouldn't want them and Ford would probably prefer to take an insurance payout or write-off rather than put more money into them.

What about the people who ordered it and were expecting delivery soon. Did ford try to make it right?

I heard somewhere on the boards at some point that people whose Mavericks got damaged in a derailment got rescheduled for production at priority 2 so that their Mavericks got rebuilt first, but I'm not sure if this is a consistent policy done by Ford or if the customer had to fight for it.

I hope the parts from the damaged trucks would get used for those of us that have recalls and parts on order for warranty replacement. You know like heat exchangers that don't exist or modules.

I hope no one was hurt innthe derailment.

Saw an interesting video this week of a derailment in Tehachapi, CA that occurred in January. Several railcars, including one autorack, derailed. The railroad fixed the track and pushed the derailed cars part way down a 100 foot hill then left. This video shows a salvage crew recently hired to haul off everything.

End of first day they pulled the autorack to the bottom of the hill and pulled out 9 Cadillac CTS and 1 Camaro. They were pretty banged up during the wreck and even more when they yanked them out and carried them over to the side.

Next morning they came back and all the cars were gone, stolen, along with some of the batteries from their equipment. One of the guys saw one of the cars not too far away with a guy putting in oil and gas. He had put on two tires that were missing. The guy just kept pouring then drove off. The guy followed him and after 20 minutes the driver jumped out and ran away.

They said the railroad thinks the railcars may of been derailed to get to the cars. I assume for parts to sell.
