I was walking out to the parking lot at a big box store. There was a guy in a Rivian parked next to my MAV checking it out. He left before I could talk to him. Hah,,, one of many. Had a lot of long conversations with people that were interested in it. Let them check it out. And, sit in it. etc... still patiently waiting for my new one. Mine was just under $24,000 out the door with the sun roof and hitch. ECO XL. A plan and Military discount included.

There was an open spot next to my colleague's Rivian today, so I couldn't resist taking some comparison pics.

And just think how much less you paid for the Maverick. The Rivian is not a bad looking truck, but it doesn't have the character that the Mav. has.

Anyway, until the manufacturers solve the cost of replacing batteries, I'm out.

Electric vehicles are as much about status as they are actually saving the earth.......(which they don't do either.)

I saw one up close last year. It was priced at $120K! I think I will wait and see if Ford comes out with an electric Maverick!!
There will definitely be a 10-20k higher price point per trim just for it being electric. If they can manage a 5k higher price point that would be miraculous.

I wouldn't say no to a Rivian if offered for free. But I still have a mental hurdle of paying for a vehicle that cost more than the house I purchased 15 years ago.

The paving dude got a few Rivians because he couldn't get Mavericks.

Delivery time was faster on the Rivian.
(And I'm sure a write-off as a business expense and I'm sure some sort of subsidy, access to carpool lanes and such...)

Who knew Rivian was a drop-in replacement for Maverick?

Buying a $100,000 truck to not pay $20,000 in taxes is still $80,000 more expensive. Tax write-offs are not free.

Only one company will still be around in 10 years. Take a guess which one that would be.
