Sorry it did not work out for you. Obviously family takes precedence over trucks, so you have to do what you have to do to accommodate your family. The bad part of it all is that if it were almost any other vehcile, you and your family could find one on a lot to sit in and see if it fit your needs, but not the case with the Maverick. Wishing you the best with your Silverado.

Gotta do what you gotta do. I fully intend to purchase my Maverick. But until ink is put to paper, things can change. Part of the risk of waiting almost a year to get a vehicle.
Agreed. Honestly I had the same intent...

And I've followed your posts/story and did hesitate about posting mine out of consideration for folks like you who are still waiting on similar builds. But I also thought I had a perspective worth sharing.

Thanks much--appreciate the kind words!

There was a time you could've made it work but people tend to frown on kids riding in the bed of a pickup now.
Unlike you I got to sit in one and your right as I'm 6'4" and there is no extra room in the back with that drivers seat in something like a comfortable position.

I’m 5 10 and wife is about 5 8. Have an infant, probably 2yrs out from another kid. Keep my order that’s still unscheduled or should I move on?
I'm 6'2 and have no issue fitting. Haven't even thought about the size because this truck is amazing. Its easy to turn down something you haven't seen but its worth it in my opinion.

My wife is 5’7” but has long legs and we have a 4 year old. Neither of them want to use the Maverick as the primary vehicle due to space.
It can work, but if you don’t need a pick up look elsewhere. We primarily travel in my wife’s Tuscon Hybrid Blue. That this is cavernous compared to the Maverick and larger than the Escape as well.

I sat in a Maverick before ordering and it was a step up relative to the current Corolla so I found it acceptable (we have two kids too and I'm 6' 2"). 7 months later I sat in a Kia Niro and thought holy crap this is so much bigger than the Mav, and the seat can go downwards. I hope I wasn't just trying to deceive myself that it'd be big enough.

Just got mine a week ago also as a tall father. I'm 6'3" with a wife and one kid (9 year old). It's got no more or less room than the wife's Forester... *shrug*. Our kid is 54" tall now and doesn't have problems fitting in either seat. Admittedly, I enjoy sitting closer to the steering wheel than many of my tall peers, but I'm not struggling for room.

Totally. I think it was the booster seat that was the killer, because the kid couldn't tuck his feet under the back of the front seat.

I can add my 2 cents. I'm 5'7 and wife 5'3. I can't comfortably fit our rear facing child seat with the base behind me in my driving position. My wife can with no problem. I can fit the rear facing seat without the base behind me without issue. A forward facing seat or booster seat would be no problem at all, but the rear seat with the base is a no go behind me and makes the passenger seat fairly uncomfortable as well when it's on that side. The Maverick's size is very comparable to my wife's Mazda cx-5 as we have the exact same issues/experience in her car. I also have a jeep gladiator that has a little more rear seat room, it isn't much better either, but I can make that one work.

Thanks for -
Yeah, I know. There's just no midsize truck that offers any more cab space than the Maverick does. Maybe the Ridgeline? But the Duramax is more fuel efficient than the Honda, so...
tl;dr: Ordered a Maverick, won the getting built & delivered lottery, loved driving it, walked away.

If you're tall, AND you have a young family, this post's for you.

After wringing my hands about the Mav for most of 2022, since there was no way to test drive one I decided to jump in and place an order for a hybrid Lariat Lux while the banks were open in Sept. After seeing the terrible discrepancy between how many hybrids were ordered, and how many Ford could build, and re-evaluating the importance of AWD for my situation, when ford announced in January that we could switch platforms I went for it.

Because I never received any communication directly from Ford (not even an order confirmation email), once/week I jumped on the Ford CS chat and asked for my order status. Answer was always the same: Unscheduled. I watched the threads here each week, getting the inside scoop on what kind of scheduling was taking place and noting how far out they were getting scheduled for the folks were lucky enough to get a build week. Started to get pretty discouraged.

After the first week of March, I stopped contacting Ford CS every week--figured I'd save myself the disappointment. Then after a few weeks I went ahead and checked again, to see if maybe I'd gotten scheduled on a lark. You know what they said? "Congratulations, your Maverick is AWAITING SHIPMENT." Could'a knocked me over with a feather... And sure enough, less than 14 days later it showed up at my dealer.

So off I went to go check it out. And you know, that 2.0L EB engine is a pistol. The truck was well optioned, fantastic to drive, and looked amazing. BUT... I'm pretty tall being at the far end of 6'3", and my wife is 6'0", and we have 6 and 7 year old boys. I'd read all the forum posts and watched probably every single Maverick video on youtube, and I was optimistic that the 4 or us would be able to make it work, since we have a large SUV as our other vehicle.

Sadly though, we just couldn't. With our boys in booster seats and me in a comfortable seating position to drive, the son behind me had his feet cocked sideways to keep from digging them into the back of the driver's seat. There was no way he'd be comfortable for the year+ he'd still need the booster. It was a little better on the passenger side since my wife could scoot up a little bit, but ultimately it was just too tight. And I'm a little beat up about it, tbh. I had super high hopes. If I was single or we were childless and planning to remain that way, I think the Maverick would be the perfect vehicle. But at this time and place of life for me, it came up short. (ba-dum-tss).

Sadly, every "mid-size" truck on the market has even LESS room than the Maverick, so I wound up lighting my bank account on fire and brought home a Silverado 1500 with the 3.0L Duramax engine. It's fantastic and I love it, but in the back of my mind I'll always wonder about the Maverick that got away...
Thanks for that explanation of why you gave it up........ I'm 6'4" and I've had my 3 full grown kids in back and yeah had the seat up a bit but I was.fine. there's always trade offs to get 40mpg and a 32k Lariat truck. Different strokes for different folks but hey my first truck was a 68 Chevy with 3 on the tree and no AC so this truck is a dream in comparison.
