Mine was not the cowl. I ended up taking it in a third time after the rain and it was wet. Walked in and asked to speak to the manager. Then I made sure they had a tech come and look to feel around. It was coming in from the firewall they said. Not sure what that is, but now it’s fixed. I had to be insistent. When they tested it two times before they said they couldn’t find the leak. Just so relieved it’s done 😅

My Mav is currently in the shop to repair this issue. The dealer, who has been great so far, says that the water leak issue into the passenger compartment is coming from a “body seam” issue. They have removed the fender and inner liner to try to isolate the leak. They said that “the water leak is coming up all the way to the heater box.” Not sure what that specifically means but doesn’t sound good. The attached photos show white mold that has formed because this clearly has been leaking since purchase. The dealer has ordered new rug, etc…. to take care of the mold issue. I’ll keep everyone updated as this thing progresses. (Check under your floor mats for condensation. That’s how I first noticed this)

Yikes, I'm afraid that's gonna be the same for me. I've been trying to dry it out for days now and it's starting to smell like a locker room. I'm starting to be glad that we had so much rain in LA or I might have never known that it was leaking for years.
Ford should release a service bulletin on this asap.

I'm having the same issue on my drivers side. I noticed a puddle on the drivers side door panel last week during heavy rains and found out that it's very wet on the driver side floor.
So do you mean the black cowl at the base of the windshield?
I believe so, that’s what the dealer told me anyway. Said it wasn’t installed properly. No leaks since luckily

Thanks for the info. At this point the carpet and padding are probably beyond saving and I'm praying I dont have to lock horns with the dealer/Ford to have it all replaced.

Any luck finding the cause of this? Just pulled up the passenger front mat and it was literally sopping wet underneath. It’s been getting wet a while as there were the beginnings of a little mold forming. Checked all the others and they were dry.
Anyone else having issues with leaks in the passenger side? I took it to the dealer and they say they can’t find the source, but it’s clearly coming from behind the carpet. Whether it’s through the hood or one of the panels I’m not sure. Dealer says I will have to pay labor in order to pull up carpets to diagnose the leak. Hoping someone has another suggestion!
WHY are there so many posts about water leaks and Ford isn’t addressing the issue?

My 2022 Lariat that I’ve had for 15 months only has 1294 miles on it. It has been at the dealership for 11 days and they cannot locate the leak. It was soaked inside from the front windshield to the back window and headliner to carpets. It is now torn apart and I don’t feel like it is a new vehicle.

How can this be escalated outside of Facebook, Twitter, truck clubs, and local posts etc?

This issue needs NATIONAL attention. Any suggestions?

Just got my Mav back after five days. Service department told me it was fixed and to keep the hvac on to help the carpet dry out. I pushed back about getting new carpet/padding but was literally leaving on a camping trip that morning so I figured I'd give it a day or two to see if it stopped smelling.... it didnt.
I called the service department back this morning to demand that they order up new carpet and come to find out that they actually didnt fix the leak in the first place! The tech said he couldnt figure out where it was leaking from so they just told me it was fixed and probably hoped they'd never hear from me again.
Now it's gotta go back in to the body-shop for who knows how long and will probably have to go back in again to have the carpet replaced after the leak if fixed.
Meanwhile, I'm racking up the rental fees so if anyone had any experience with how to get reimbursed from Ford I'd be grateful to know.

Elduchey:

My Maverick is now on day 13 in the Ford shop. They cannot find the leak. They provided a rental as of last week. I saw mold in the photos.

This is most likely much bigger than a few of us here on this site. It is also on Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube.

Some suggest it might become a recall if enough people file legal action. I was told if owners report it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) that it might make Ford initiate a recall due to the health issues from water/mold.

There are probably many more owners that don’t even know they have a problem. Without a recall I’m afraid that the issue will not get enough attention.

Any suggestions?

Mines a 22 Lariat FX4 with the tow package. I've seen a few hybrid owners on here with leaking problems as well so it's across both models.

my Mav has been at the dealer for 4+ weeks. They claim that that there was a seam that was not attached correctly during manufacturing. Had to remove outer and inner fender plus a bunch of other parts to chase the leak. ( I get more details once I pick it up) It’s now sealed. Biggest delay has been with acquiring the new carpeting and insulation. My dealer never questioned the need to replace the carpeting and I have had a loaner for the past 3 weeks. Hopefully, completed by end of this week.

Good info. You driving a hybrid or ecoboost?
Not sure if this question was for me but my Maverick is a 2022 Lariat Eco.

Is there any way in this truck site to consolidate all of the issues about water/mold?
