Is remote start worth it or will the app be good enough?

I have just placed the order for my hybrid so I have a little time to add it... My last 2 cars have had remote start. I sort of convinced myself it might not be needed but I have already picked almost every upgrade inside the cab and safety feature do I stop at remote start? I realize the truck can be started with the app, but is it Bluetooth (range?) or cellular connected (subscription?)

Cell activated. No subscription required.
I haven’t used my FOB remote start once, but I have Ford Pass tied into Siri and use that all the time.

Good to know! I garage my vehicles so remote start would only really be needed leaving from work, so I think I will let it go and just use Ford Pass.

Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure how much different the order banks are in Canada, but in the US the next chance to place an order won't be until July 17th per a post in another thread.

Honestly that's not a problem for me, I can wait! My current ride is running great and honestly I am sad to be looking to replace it. In the 15 years I have had it all I have had to fix is the 3, 5, R wave plate (GM paid 1/2), 1 windshield, a new battery, alternator and wiper linkage. If it wasn't a discontinued Saturn, I would probably keep it another 5 years!

I use my fob remote start about 4x a day and love it. Would not want to open the app everytime but might not be an issue for you. The luxury package has other things that make it worth it

Will Ford pass still work with the 4G removal for 2023 ?

Yes. The hotspot delete doesn't affect the modem used for Fordpass. That particular modem just can't be used for anything else.

Only downside that has happened twice was remote area cell service is spotty. ATT local cell tower outage affected both my phone and truck at same time. Also seems to trigger a auto lock on truck ( unsure but maybe both times I locked the door accidentally) Until I can add a keypad to unlock my door I am leaving a window open in rural areas.
Otherwise I love the feature on my phone just makes everything more practical.

I don't have it on my 23 but did on my 22. I really don't miss it though as I rarely used it.

The ford pass is kinda handy if you are out of range for the fob. Funny, a while back my son picked up my truck for me after some service and had it at his house an hour away. Just for kicks, I was able to start it from my house, lol

Nice. I'm not on my phone as much as most people so it would be a pain but I'm sure I'd get used to it. I just use to have a little oil in the engine so I can just drive off.

I really like having both. In my office, about to head home. I use the fob as it's in range. Don't have to unlock phone, open app, wait for it to load and connect, press and hold, lag in starting. Just lock and double press, and love the green flash showing it worked.

Heading out of airport, parked near the elevator yesterday. Hit remote start in app from lobby, car was cool when I got there. Would hardly have had cooled at all with remote start from remote.

Today went fishing with the kid, locked the key in the truck (usual MO when fishing to not risk losing the key). Started it with app, unlock with app, just hit the start button after loading up the gear and off we go.

Both have their place. It's worth the small amount to get it.
