I had a conversation with the service advisor when I took the EcoSport in for it's oil change (8000+miles with 17% left on the reminder) I asked why Ford where recommending synthetic/mineral oil blend for the turbo engines.
He had just been on a Ford training course and they said the blend offered good protection in their millions of miles of testing, they where shown a dismantled engine that had 400,000 miles of endurance, hot and cold climate testing with negligible wear apparent. They (Ford) said mineral oil provided better lubrication for some components like valve stem seals

No explanation as to why the recommend full synthetic for the 2.5L hybrid engine
