Finally added the truck bed storage cubby

I finally added on the truck bed storage cubby today in my XL. I have the drop in bed liner, so I had to cut the hole out for the cubby.

It worked out well and glad to finally have it back there.

That’s my plan. Bungee cords or ratchet straps. Someone else mentioned a lock elsewhere too. I asked him for any links so I’ll pass those along if he has any ideas.

Appreciate that. I have some cheap straps in there. My nice self retracting straps are under the seat storage cubby.

Yeah I’m not planning on leaving anything too valuable in there just in case.

Just received mine a couple weeks ago. Was hesitant at first Removing the turn knob and drilling out a 3/4 hole - which removes very little from the box, needed to install a 5/8 keyed cam lock. Well went great ! Easy mod ... The fiance part of project is the metal piece that engages with the top slot. Take it slow and it works out. Should be sold with a lock, their not expensive.

Next I'm working a marine USB / cig lighter inside it with a light outboard , with the dibl running cover for the wires

Can't wait to install... Mine will be drivers side

I have jumper cables in there but maybe the straps is a better idea.

I'm considering Marine speakers mounted inside the cover. , with ample wire to sit on tailgate. I have a lot of outdoor work scheduled . Just a thought ..

I did one…the stepped bit mentioned in the thread above worked great.

If I really cared, I would have taken more time shaping the metal locking iron instead of just grinding away the plastic so it could swing in….but you cannot see it anyway once installed.

There's a gasket that isn't too confidence-inspiring, but I will add there are also drain holes at the bottom that a little water, etc. can potentially splash into from below.

On drivers side i store stubby hydraulic bottle jack and tire plug kit(it already saved the day on a long road trip) and passenger side has 12v and usb’s(6 foot 12v extension) and i store my 7pin connecting cable and draw bar. Plenty of storage for smallish space and i could still fit a few small items.
