I did one…the stepped bit mentioned in the thread above worked great.
If I really cared, I would have taken more time shaping the metal locking iron instead of just grinding away the plastic so it could swing in….but you cannot see it anyway once installed.
see where the little latch tab from the lock fits into the top of the cubby…..that last pick of mine is looking at the top of the cubby (from what would be looking down inside the bed) where the locking iron latch “tab” fits into the cubby to hold the door closed.

I dint take my time shaping the metal latch on the cylinder lock to fit the existing hole on the cubby….I just took a dremel tool to it instead of making it “pretty”.
How about both the jumper cables and the bottle of "OLD CUBBY"? The cables to jump start the vehicle and the bottle of booze to jump start the operator??
And here's how it works under the tonneau. Should limit moisture/corrosion. But if any arises, I'll just leave them out because 4 bolts are enough for each panel IMO. Also, last year's thread suggests not to over tighten as the plastic can crack.Added my second one to the XL today. I was able to get 4 M6-1.0x25mm hex bolts and some washers, though uncoated, at autozone for $7.
I finally added on the truck bed storage cubby today in my XL. I have the drop in bed liner, so I had to cut the hole out for the cubby.
It worked out well and glad to finally have it back there.
My straps go under the rear seat with duct tape and a Harbour Freight camp ax. The left cubby takes an oil rag and in my stupid city, plastic grocery bags since they charge me for that. On the right a folding camp shovel and plastic cylinder of bungie cords. Yes, also Harbour Frieght. I wouldn't die if stolen, but don't expect most know about the cubbies, and I manually lock the tailgate under a hard trifold tonneau cover at all times.
I definitely want to add this to my XL for the exact purpose of storing straps. Did you purchase this through Ford or was it aftermarket?
