It does indeed, which of course I don't have. :) Hopefully someone on here has one and can let us know what the thing is and how to use it. Does seem weird to have this in the vehicle with no mention in the Owner's manual as to what it is. I might even stop by the dealer to ask if no one here knows.
"FOR SERVICE PERSONNEL USE ONLY"
If you're so intrigued, maybe time for a career change?

According to the Russian Video:

There is a hole and you press that in the hole to "unlock" the gear selector if you don't have a key in the ignition.

Example: you "abandon" your car in a snow storm. Tow truck comes along, you're not there, they use a slim jim to open your door; then they press this universal tool in the hole to get your truck in Neutral so they can tow it.

I couldn't access that video. Says it is "age restricted" and wanted me to login with a Google account that I don't have. Thank you for looking through it.

Any idea where the hole is located? I also don't have a key (Lariat only uses the FOB and a button to start).

This feels a lot like the new version of those kids who steal Kias and Hyundais with a USB drive crammed into the ignition............ Haha.

I think on the Hybrid, they claim there is a little cloth rip-cord you pull on to do the same thing. But on the Ecoboost it takes a little metal paper clip ;)
No, the tether is not present on hybrids, only (apparently not all) EcoBoosts.

We were told when we picked up the truck last month that it has something to be used when the Maverick has to be towed.

So, like what @GPSMan said above …

And I guess all the highly-trained tow truck operators in the world know about this thing, huh?

I have no idea where that picture is referring to. I can't find any hole in my center console:

Has anyone else received the same tool with their Maverick? Is it possible that the dealer erroneously put this in your glove box when it did not come with the vehicle?

It was in the vehicle when it came off the car carrier before the dealer processed it.

That doesn't mean it wasn't erroneously included... :)

Should all Mavericks get one of these key things? I don't think I got one. Is it Lariat only?
Not Lariat only. I have 2023 XLT Ecoboost and there was one in my glove box, envelope opened, but I didn't do it - cross my heart!

Not in the center console under the armrest.

I believe it’s under the front console rubber liner that is under the dash board, in front of the gearshift knob. On the right side. There’s a small rectangular compartment with a lid under there.

And yes, we got one of these in the glove box of our XLT EB.

In the Video; was inside the cubby.
🤷🏻‍♂️
Video was Ford Fusion.
Same transmission.
Same gear select.
Even looked like same cup holders.
Now we know what it is for.
Where did Ford hide the hole in this iteration?

I listened to the audio and while I don't speak Russian could make out "Ford Fusion".

Did you not read the envelope? The answer is literally printed in plain English
