Apparently, this guy does POV videos of vehicles with binaural sound - I guess to capture the feel of being in them.

So if you're still waiting for your Tremor or other eco Mav, and want to feel the feels of slamming the tailgate, hearing that direct injection tackle some snowy dirt roads, or rubbing your fingernails up and down that sweet, sweet ActiveX (!), put on some good headphones and get your ASMR on. 😂

Binaural sound is sound that's recorded and mixed in a way to mimic the way human ears hear things in a space (which is different than how it sounds recorded through a standard mic).

That way if you listen with nice enough headphones, it can sound like you're genuinely in the space.

thanks for posting. I'd pay this person to do the same in a hybrid :)

Sweet, Mavericks in space! Take that Elon!

Actually I did that back in the day. I had a 78 Econoline with a 351 4bbl. I had just put headers on it but before I hooked up the exhaust I parked it in a narrow 10ft wide alley between two apartment buildings. 2.5 stories of solid brick wall. I revved the hell out of it and recorded it on one of those big cassette tape recorders, just a nice clean raw roar!

So it's specifically referring to the recording and mixing technique? Binaural audio is stereo, but not all stereo is binaural.

I was making fun of myself for being old. We would put our headphones on and hook them to the Hi-Fi and jam to our records.

AKA Surround. When I used to mix audio for my church's video stream, I always mixed it in a way so that it sounds like you are on the stage if you watching with headphones. Didn't realize it had a special term.

There's crossover between the two? The difference is that binaural sound is usually recorded in a way where it can play back with two channel sound accurately

I mean, technically, yes. You only have two ears and digital surround on headphones has been a thing forever. It's very similar. You are mixing multiple inputs in a way to make the person seem there. One uses multiple speakers, the other just two.
