The insurance companies need to stop paying for stolen cars when keys are left in the car. I'm tired of paying more insurance because of stupid people. You also pay a lot higher insurance rates for years with that big of a claim and may not get a renewal.

Two insurance companies have stopped insuring Kia and Hyundai vehicles in some states because of the high theft rate for the poor security design they had.

Love the keypad feature. Any issue I’m missing by simply leaving the key in a Farady pouch in the truck permanently and just using keypad for entry
I was thinking of the key in the Faraway pouch when I am kayaking and using the keypad to unlock Mav but what happens if it goes into Deep Sleep mode? I know chances are slim but still?
I usually have just a door key cut and hide that under the vehicle then stash a spare key/fob somewhere well hidden inside car.

I think the keypad still works in Deep Sleep. Ford pass obviously won't. I'll check again the next time mine goes into Deep Sleep, Lol.

I know dome lights and passenger intelligent access is disabled.

Just stumbled upon this thread………..
If I leave the key in the truck, no Faraday, lock it with the keypad, windows up………
Jerk comes along and breaks the window, reaches in and manually opens the door, climbs in…….
Will the push-button start work? Or will the truck recognize the broken (or, at least, the unopened) window?
Testing it by climbing in a left-open window doesn’t really test it, as the truck “knows” that the window was left open, instead of broken.
Seems that the only way to test it (If a Ford engineer won’t volunteer the info), is to break a window.
Sorry, I’m not volunteering.

I had similar thoughts, but the Faraday pouches apparently wear out over time.

I currently leave mine in my XL when at the gym, and unlock with Siri.
How can a Faraday pouch wear out? I made one out of copper screen.

I just leave the key in the truck at home and at work

Ones like you find on Amazon I believe have a mesh, and that wears out over time opening and closing and it can become damaged/ineffective.

Have you tested this on a Maverick? I have several times on my lariat luxury hybrid. If I leave the key in the truck with the window down get out and lock it, I can come back and climb through the window, start the truck and drive off without ever touching the key.

I don't know if this is an oversight on the Maverick or what, but I've done it multiple times so I wouldn't trust leaving my key in the truck on a push to start on a Maverick.
Do you understand what a Faraday Pouch is??????

Yet, if it is you emergency Key, in your car, how in the heck would you "wear out" the pouch. It's a Ridiculous argument.

RISKS OF NOT LEAVING YOUR KEY IN THE CAR:

1. You might lose it. I presume the price for a new fob and programing runs about
$450.

2. You will lose confidence in your mental faculties when you have to look for the key about three times a week.

3. You may risk stares from persons of the opposite sex (usually opposite sex) who notice the bulge in your tight jeans from carrying the fob in the pocket. Some may consider this an advantage, but risky behavior could result.

4. You will just get tired of the hassle of the whole process of locating and carrying the fob. Being tired of the hassle can lead to a bad attitude which may carry over into your driving habits leading to potential destruction of your Maverick

I will guess that of those who try leaving the fob in the car for one week, most will just let the potential thief give it a try. If the thief is good, he may very well pick a more expensive vehicle???
Good point about the size of the Fob. I couldn't believe how large and bulky it was. Even with a spare blade key inside, it could have been (should have been) designed much slimmer that it is. Ford doesn't get that the details matter.

It's dumb AF because they will have other ways of stealing it and you just gave them a key once they have time to go through the car.

1) LOCK IT
2) TAKE THE KEY WITH YOU

Sometimes life really is that easy.
You clearly don't understand the gist of this thread.
