I initially mounted my DeeZee assist strut with the piston on the bottom. But the tailgate support cable tended to catch between the bed and dampener, which looked like it was not a good thing. Reversing it, so the piston was on top, seemed to prevent that... So I wound up with the piston on top, which was how it showed in the DeeZee instructions.Thank you. But I followed the picture in their instructions.

The black letters have a red outline that better matches my hood decal and the FX4 logos. And thanks for the heads-up on the strut!I initially mounted my DeeZee assist strut with the piston on the bottom. You might want to check to see if your tailgate cable is doing the same thing. If so, it's simple to reverse the strut.
PS - Love the Cyber Orange with the black tailgate lettering. It really pops! I've got black letters on my Area 51 as well, but it's not quite the same.... If/when I get my Cyber Orange truck, I'm definitely going with the black letters!
You're welcome. Let us know if you find it works better the other way around as well... I'm kind of wondering if it depends on the actual cables installed on a given truck, or if it's a "general" thing...The black letters have a red outline that better matches my hood decal and the FX4 logos. And thanks for the heads-up on the strut!
Thank you.TAC. The passenger side center bolts needed to be modified.
Could you send me the files for the 3D prints you made? Or direct me where to find them?Just printed this bracket for the cubby. Having my phone so far down wasn’t working for me. Other than that I also printed a holder for my garage door opener which was the best thing I’ve done. 3D Maxpider floor mats are great as well.
