I almost traded it in a few months ago for a Chevy Silverado, but then misfiring started happening, and had to go through with waiting for the back ordered exhuast. It’s a shame, because we all relate in the way of wanting the maverick because it was a truck we’ve all wanted., only to be let down with a truck that still needed one more year of testing instead of releasing fast. It was like my dream truck. We’ll see what the future has up its sleeves. I have not gotten good customer service from ford in general. The amount of time, and relentless attempts to repair this issue has been annoying to say the least. I had to open a ticket with ford customer service in Michigan to get a truck specialist to follow me along with this issue.
Aside from the issues, the truck has been generally satisfactory overall. My dealer has been pretty good so far and I've liked the people I've dealt with in their service department. They do what they can. But even so, It's just slapping a smiley face on a turd if it keeps needing repairs. And yeah they've covered the repairs under warranty but it costs me time and worry.

As you say, we shall see what the future brings.

Does the OP not have lemon law protection in his state? Or is it not been repaired at a dealership. The comment on one post "I have a new exhaust on backorder" struck me as odd.

Yes I said I have one on back order, but in the midst of having them place one on back order, the engine began misfiring, and is still doing it. They proceeded to tell me to keep driving it until it comes in, and they said March. I’m no vehicle professional, but when a car starts misfiring, why would you keep driving it? Seems odd. And not the PCM isn’t working correctly with body control modules. It’s one issue after the next with this exhuast issue. You tell me what’s the best course of action, because I know you wouldn’t keep driving it correct?

Even if the exhuast gets repaired, and all things seem well, I’m not sure if continuing with the hybrid would be a smart move. I might move on to the ecoboost or another truck. I’ve had older cars have no issues and this is brand new. How disappointing!

As it seems this post is a post to complain, I’m really not complaining, I’m more venting about my disappointment with the hybrid maverick. I want to inform other users that they may have this too. I don’t know. Obviously this post is an awake thread, as it is good to know what’s going on in the hybrid maverick community. 2023’s are probably doing better at the moment, but as for 2022’s, this maverick was in production late 2021. So this could be errors or malfunctions from my wave of mavericks that were produced, not sure 🤷‍♀️

If my Hybrid was running poorly and if the dealer told me to keep driving it til the parts came in I would be doing homework on the Lemon Laws. A vehicle with a miss in it is a gross polluter in many parts of the nation and not safe to drive. My niece had a 8 month old fiesta? that was not running correctly in Calif and the dealer searched dealerships for a new engine and had one flown to the shop and installed. She got her car back 2 days before the lemon law limit in CA. That was 2 years ago and no issues since.

Why wouldn't there be carbon on the valves after 30k miles?

Internet wanna be mechanics have some weird ideas.

Like the combustion chamber of a street car needs to pristine and the oil needs to be changed every 3000 miles. And then you need to send the oil to a LAB.

LOL. It's a street car. It's under stressed.
Just drive the thing.

It doesn't. I used it every 3k miles on my Focus ST just before I changed the oil. At 30k I removed the intake manifold to check the valves and they were absolutely covered in carbon, on the stem and the valve head. I also had a catch can system on it so that didn't do much either.

Sold my Maverick back in May of 2022, bought a first gen tacoma with 200k miles instead.

The Maverick spent 4 out of the 6 months I've owned it either broken down or at the dealer.

The Tacoma spent 0 days broken down or at a mechanic/dealer.

Lesson learned, never buy American vehicles. I'd rather get 20mpg and a Truck that doesn't break down.

That's an awesome testimony for how good the powertrain can be. It's mind boggling how many can have a positive experience vs the ones that have negative experience with the same vehicle. I hope ford can get all the negative's cured so all can have your experience and all enjoy a great little truck.

Most of us aren't actually having problems with our Hybrids.

But no one complains on a forum about everything going right. 😆

The only things that mitigate here are the fact that it's the first model year and there were bound to be issues. Doesn't really excuse them be you could see that coming. Also, your experience is anecdotal. Nobody has seen the real numbers other than ford. The hybrids may be fairly decent overall.

You just have to figure out what your level of tolerance is and go with that.

Don't worry, I'll pull my intake manifold at 30k to blast them with walnut shells and I'll make sure to tag you with a photo of them so you can hopefully see despite the probably glare caused by your tinfoil hat. The majority of the oil comes through the valve guides and just cakes up in layers of carbonized rings on the valve stem, the valve head usually isn't as bad. I'm not sure you understand how a DI engine works but I'm also not surprised given what you're saying here. Also, I am a prior technician and now an engineer. I'll stick by my methods, you stick with your questionable maintenance schedule, 300k combined out of my previous 2.0 ecoboost engines. Ignorance is bliss I guess in your case
