When we get ours we are planning on driving it from Iowa to the Southern border in TX then over and up into the mountains and down to San Diego(the meaning of its namesake scholars have lost over time). Hopefully this trip will happen in May and will give us plenty of opportunity to do back to back mileage tests. I plan on doing speed changes for entire tanks. 55, 65, 75 mph and such. Hopefully that will give people a good estimate of what they get. I will also do a low speed offroading tank aswell as mountain climbs.

The lack of a lower air damn I believe is the problem. TFL has a video showing the negative effects of not using the lower air dam or chin spoiler. The lack of MPG from a 4 cylinder that can only tow 2k lbs is why I changed my Tremor order to Fx4.

San Diego(the meaning of its namesake scholars have lost over time).

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, I believe it translates to "a whale's vagina".

Go to fuelly and select l4 engine. This is an average for fwd and awd for the 22 model year, no hybrids, 23.87MPG

No just the cheapest King cab; want to buy it less than 20,000 miles?
No Im maverickman all the way. I was just thinking lower ride height, less weight, and less rotating mass all might have a affect on gas mileage.

Did you check your fenders for the 2,000 pounds of weed that the smugglers forgot to remove once the train crossed the border? Related question... Have you noticed any suspicious-looking people hanging out by your driveway?

I don't have a Tremor but I do have an Ecoboost with 4K towing and typically get no less than 32 - 35 mpg on the highway at as fast as 75 mph. The EPA ratings seem almost like a worst case scenario.
My Tremor MPG sucks.

If my math is right that means you averaged 66mph to accomplish this which I guess depending on what kind of roads you are on does kind of suck. I have no doubt that if I got in my Tremor and filled up at the closet gas station to the interstate and drove to Florida I could pull off 30mpg plus or minus 1mpg going 75mph the whole way. But I don't believe these guys with FX4's claiming 35mpg at least not average across a whole tank maybe instant mpg or short trips. Unless they are on a 400 mile flat road going 55mph the whole way.

I believe the tremor has a more aggressive tire tread, lower gear ratio, more ground clearance ( higher drag ratio) and a different transfer case. This will lead to lower fuel mileage.

I could easily hit 34 mpg in warmer weather on my Pirellis on the freeway with rolling hills. Then I got rid of them because they're terrible for mud and snow.

The Tremor is heavier, higher, and has bigger/more aggressive tires. All that will cost you in mpg.

How exactly does 66mph suck? It's what I drive on my regular weekend run from DC to the NYC area (Prob avg 68mph). 75mph presents a very significant hit in gas mileage, the loss in terms of fuel mileage between 65 and 75 due to drag is exponential, not linear. How many minutes are you saving going 75 vs 65? 22 minutes over the course of my 180 mile trip? Is that worth a roughly 20% hit in fuel efficiency? To me, no, especially when there's no emergency, I'm not rushing for some deadline and I'm not taking part in a cannonball run. I suspect most people just have a problem being passed on the highway which is probably an ego thing. Also, my Maverick has much heavier 30" tires on 18" wheels and yes, I routinely hit 35+mpg on my 180 mile drive to the NYC area with 4k tow AWD Ecoboost which is no different from the FX4 you're referencing. That is documented here and isn't even accurate considering the larger tires throw off the readings so if I am getting and indicated 35mpg, I'm probably doing 1-2mpg better in reality.

You obviously didn't read the comment I was replying to and you are just helping my argument. You aren't calculating your mileage you are just using the trip computer which is a ballpark. And like I said anyone can find a short route that will net you better mileage than you would normally get across a whole tank. If I got on an interstate with a speed limit of 75 and drove 65 on purpose while taking the downhill side then yeah sure I would get better mileage and could probably hit 35mpg also.
