Had a not so fun ride to work this a.m. Lady in front of me did a brake check and I hit her gently but vehicle behind me didn't pay attention so the mav got a ramming. Total loss but insurance gave me a good over what's owed. Ugh hate the buying experience comes again. May go for a bronco. It was what I wanted back a few years ago. Good thing got those airbags replaced. I'm sad, loved Duce and feel like I lost a friend. Im safe and without harm other than some some scrapes and bumps. On we go!!

Sorry for your troubles. I see you tested the auto braking, any observations on that?

Sadly I didn't have cruise active for that to work I was in control and glad I was paying attention to mitigate the frontal impact. Otherwise I'm sure it would have done the same.

I'm glad you're okay.

I think he's referring to the Automatic Emergency Braking. Did you notice if it worked or not? Did you hear beeping sound and did you notice your dash go red?

Oh yeah all that did its thing I was already attentive to what I needed do. It took care of me and things I couldn't have soon enough for sure. I didn't have to work hard to mitigate It helped.

That will not happen. Either she will go through surgery and sold with a salvage title, or will have an autopsy and body parts sold. No decent burial or cremation for poor maverick

Glad you're ok! Sucks for Mav.

And I personally think brake-checking with no obvious need to brake for a hazard in front should be a FELONY. It creates very dangerous driving for people behind. As evidenced by this thread.

Depends on the state. In my state, if you are brake checked (illegal) but were tailgating (also illegal), you can't sue as you are partially at fault due to the tailgating. So, you would have to prove you weren't tailgating and the brake check was more of a swoop-and-stomp.

Dash cams are your friends.

Agree with you!

I see where they're coming from with those laws, but tailgating depends on other factors, purposefully making someone so or rapidly slow down is nothing but danger.

I mean, tailgating someone (or being tailgated) at 90mph in Germany felt safer than safe distance at 55mph in Virginia...

I understand. But from their perspective, when in the presence of two illegal actions, it's hard to say which one is more the illegal one. The brake checker can say the brake check it wouldn't have mattered anyway if you weren't kissing their bumper to begin with. So, my state says, "screw it; both are guilty!"

Agreed. All that does is create a dangerous situation for the people behind them. Glad you're okay
