10/31/2021 Order from Villa Ford - Orange, CA.

Cactus Grey XL Hybrid with Backseat Plug, Full-Size Spare, and Tow Hitch.

Went in 9/2022 to "convert" order to MY23. Dropped full-size spare from the order at this time.

Went back 12/2022 to check status and was told that I have been placed at Priority 12. Dealer said earlier orders than mine were placed at Priority 10-11....while orders after me were placed at Priority 13-19 since this was the "fairest way to do it" (their words).

Meanwhile.......I see ALL KINDS of people who were new 9/22 orders (NOT rollover 2021 orders) getting their Mavericks while I am sitting here like a complete dumbass waiting & waiting......

Just got a 45-day email today from Ford....so hoping everything was entered correctly.

QUESTION #1 : Does Ford have the capability of seeing who the original 2021 order-placers are? Or are we 2021 people just "mixed-in" with new 9/2022 customers? Does Ford even give a shit to differentiate between the two and prioritize 2021 people?

QUESTION #2 : What have I done wrong and what can I change at this point to make things go quicker?

Thanks in advance....

I am completely baffled by how a few people are STILL waiting for their trucks. Easy to blame Ford and to be honest their allocation system is the root problem. But it was never designed for a situation like this. So I have to think this has to be on the dealer. If your dealer had an allocation then you should have received a truck. So your dealer didn't have an allocation. Or did, and used it on somebody else's truck.

Setting you to priority 12? That's lame. Unless they had a lot of other orders ahead of you still not fulfilled. And if that's the case they took more orders than they had allocations for. This is a gray area because some reports say the dealers didn't know how many allocations they would get until after the order banks closed.

I would go into the dealership and camp out. Don't call, don't email, go there in person and be prepared to camp out. Ask to see the order list and where you are at on it. There is no reason for them not to let you see that. My dealer has done it every time I've stopped in. Ask to see what priority they have you at and ask them to explain how that system works.

What can you change? Not likely anything at this point. If you want a truck I would be putting my name on the list at every dealer within a hundred miles.

Q. 1: Ford told dealers to prioritize, just like you said the dealer told you he had done..sorta. Ford's "suggestion" was to put the first group of rollovers without VINs at Priority 10, and any new orders at higher numbers. MANY dealers seemed to have ignored this, but yours played it somewhat better than the ones who just threw all the new orders in as 10s. BUT, what the other dealers did doesn't impact you. Priority only is meaningful at your dealer. When Ford goes looking to your dealer (and they won't do that if your dealer does not have enough allocations at that time), then if what you have ordered meets Ford's needs, you get selected. If not, you get passed over.

Q.2: IF your dealer has the allocations, and you have dumped all of the things that can easily be added after production (mats, flaps, rails, bedliners, etc), then you are in about as good of a position as you can get. I'd find that Ford memo here in the group, take it to your dealer, and push them to make you a priority 10, tho, as they should have.

I'm a rollover with a Cancelled VIN from 11/3/21 and I am somewhere in Ford's lost tracking system, hopefully on a train, but nobody knows for sure.

Ford FUBARed the system by opening it up for new orders when they had not yet developed a plan for either your group (rollover) or my group (cancelled). They didn't get us figured out until 11/30/22...after they had started producing the 23MY. So some VERY LUCKY Sept 22 orders got into the line to keep the assembly lines running. Ford should not have left the rollover priority to dealers...they (you) got a bit lost in the mix of Sept 22 orders. But it wasn't until November that Ford figured out how to deal with those of us still waiting.

I do feel for all of the rollover group.

Dealers don't get to decide whose vehicle gets built and whose doesn't. The allocation process is not up to them so they "didn't use it on somebody else's truck". That's not how it works........

@MrKombi you should have placed another order with a different dealer in September when the order banks opened for the 23MY.

Only problem is..... Villa Ford likes to puff out their chest and say "We are a high-volume dealer......we have lots of allocations".

I am beginning to think otherwise........

Ford should publicize dealer allocations.....so consumers can make informed choices. I can choose from twenty different dealers within an hour of my house. I'm feeling like I chose the wrong one......

Based upon the theory that my chosen dealership has insufficient allocations?

Sure it is, that is what the priority code system is for. Do they get to pick a specific order? No. But they can micky the priority codes to make it happen if they want. They put the OP at priority 12. If they had newer hybrid XL orders that they put at priority 10 then that order goes first and the OP's order just sits. He should not have been at priority 12.

No, there is so much more to it than the stupid priority code. So much more in fact that the priority code matters very little.

I don't know how many allocations your current dealer has but the cold hard truth is you have waited 16 months for them to get you a truck and they haven't been able to do it.

In September your wait would have been around 12 months and IMO I would have tried a different dealer because 12 months is to damn long. You may still be waiting but what would it have hurt to try a different dealer?

It would have just increased your odds of getting a truck with no down side is all I'm saying. You could still have done the roll over process with your current dealer but "stacked the deck" by putting in another order with a different dealer.

I completely agree. But that doesn't make my statement any less true. PC is the absolute least important item. But in this case, the OP has had his order in for 16 months? I'm inclined to think there is a problem at the dealer. And about the only thing the dealer can affect is the priority code assigned. Assuming they actually put the order in correctly in the first place.

What makes this order NOT get selected for 16 months and others get selected?

Honestly, I don't there is a way to know in this crazy world. Given what has happened, next time I'll find a second dealer and order from both, I think! Big dealer, small dealer...I took a chance on a very small dealer because he agreed to X-Plan. He had a total of 5 Mavericks (EBs) ordered and built in 2022, and my Hybrid was the only cancelled one that got pushed to 2023. They took ZERO orders in September for any more 2023s. They left me at Priority 19, but it mattered not...and Ford dropped us cancelled orders to priority 2 anyway.

Actually, next time I'll order from Long-McArthur, as they know what they are doing and @fordvideoguy is a rockstar. I think they paid attention to their allocations when the order bank opened...or at least guessed as close as the crazy Ford system would let them. I still think First come, first built (within constraints) is the fair way, and let dealers have stock orders via allocations. But that's likely frought with different problems.

call Ford Customer Service line and ask what your status is. You want to hear "unscheduled clean" at this point. Then go down to your dealer and ask them exactly how many Maverick orders at Priority 10, 11 are still in front of you and don't leave until somebody tells you straight up. Go up the chain to General manager if you have to.

You are never going to get selected by regional until you are a Priority 10. If they select you, they will move you to Priority 2 and lock your order. Then factory can select you to go into "production". The whole thing sounds fishy and like stuff is being left out here...

Good Luck!

Another thought. I would not take the dealer's word for it. Your Priority code should be on your order sheet. Make them change it to 10 and give you a copy.
