I'm just curious if their is another way to get it? Customer support is telling me that they can't give out the rail car# anymore, and to speak to ur dealership/salesman. That they have more resources at their disposal to get the rail car# for tracking... Sales man just says that the only tracking info they get is its built, its been shipped emails.. And that they only receive a email for delivery to them the day before it is to leave the final destination train yard for car hauler transport to the dealership. So they know to expect delivery the next day..

The only reason I would like to track it is I have someone who wants to buy my current vehicle.. But I don't have a real time frame to tell them... I can live with being a one vehicle household for a couple of days maybe even a week.. But much more then that would be a real pain in the a$$.....

The final train yard should be in Chicago... And the last update from support is its on the east side of st Luis in Illinois... Dealership is in souther WI on the Stateline... So I wasn't sure if shipping by train would go to Chicago or Milwaukee.. But the salesman said all their vehicles go by train to Chicago....

I feel bad calling support every couple of days... Ud think they would want u to track it instead of calling support over and over for updates... But after u wait a year+ u start to get antsy...

Your dealership (someone/multiple someones at the dealership) has access to VINView/freightverify. Use that term. I believe the cut-over deadline from the old tracking system (Vehicle Visibility Report) to VINView/freightverify is sometime in early February. After that cutover, Vehicle Visibility Report will go away.

So, to be charitable to your salesperson, perhaps they are not being given access to VINView for their dealership. But multiple others at the dealership have access to it.....and have since October of last year. Ask to talk to the sales manager. Or any other management level employee. They have it.

Anyways, OP should just call Ford customer service to get it.
Sounds like you didn't read the original post.

Plus, the software preference does matter. Since as the memo to the dealerships in October said....

"Vehicle Visibility will be decommissioned February 1, 2023; thereby, providing ample time to transition to VINView."

Unless you know something about Vehicle Visibility staying available after February 1st?

Then there is no excuse for them to not be able to spend 10 seconds providing you the info from either Vehicle Visibility Report, or VINView. It is all there.

The software the dealers have been trained on and using for years, or brand new software that quite few are trained on- which one sounds like the easier source?

If the salesman is being a lazy putz, it matters little which program you prefer he uses (the software is not the problem).

And if OP asks salesman about vinview (and salesman actually stops being lazy), salesman will likely tell OP the vehicle location. OP doesn't want that, he wants rail car number.

Anyways, OP should just call Ford customer service to get it.
I've called 4 times to since 1/17 for trying to get the rail car # and they all say the same
" it's eather they can't get the rail car# or they aren't aloud to give it out anymore... They are always happy to look it up and tell u the location. / last update to current location

I did. There is more than one person who works at Ford CS. Some are more helpful than others. I called today and was able to get a rail car number for a forum member.
You should do it for this guy/gal! You seem to have the luck.
