So since the soundstage gets drowned by the center channel in the B&O system I’m considering the possibility of mounting the tweeters in the A pillars. However, careful placement would be necessary to avoid compromising the air bags that are behind the covers. Has anyone done this yet ? I would probably be using upgraded component speakers when I do it. I have tweeters in the factory location in the A pillars of my 2017 Mustang GT with the Mach audio system and love it.

Why not mount them in/on the mirror caps like the SN-95's? No need to mess with the airbag.

Thought about it but want to use the actual factory tweeter wiring harness because I’ll be bi-amping so extending those into the door panels would be a bit involved. I’ve got to take the pillar covers off to get to the tweeters anyway so when I have them off I’ll be able to tell if it’s possible.

I've had them off, it's possible, but I wouldn't want to interfere with the airbags. More of a CYA thing.

Bi-amping the tweeters? Are you bypassing a wired crossover and going with a DSP or something else? Even during my peak car audio days, we never did that. Not knocking it, just wondering.

Are you noticing this with the Surround setting on, or also with the normal Stereo setting selected?

It’s definitely worse with the surround sound on so I don’t use it anymore. Still hear the center with a strong midrange peak. I backed off the mid in the tone control and it was better.

Yes I won’t be using the factory speakers with their cheap integrated caps in there to crossover. So for now I plan to use the B&O amp outputs which those 5 channels being the doors, the dash tweeters, and the sub to a LOC then to a separate 4 channel amp with adjustable crossovers built in probably JL and a separate sub amp that also has its own crossover. I like the flexibility and control that the biamping provides. I had a similar setup in my FJ Cruiser with JL 4 channel amp just running doors and tweeters of Focal components and a separate JL mono amp for the sub. Was always pleased with the punch and control of the sound. It‘s not for everyone for sure. Years ago I sold Real B&O home audio and to have their name associated with this system is horrid. It’s the current trend though so I’m not surprised.

I’m definitely reconsidering your idea of putting the tweeters in the mirror caps. I’ve had that before in a F150 and was very satisfied.

That's what I would do in this case.

I'm sure the Focals come with an awesome crossover that would fit in the door with minimal effort and they would allow you to keep the factory wiring. You would lose bi-amping, but you don't mess with any of the factory wiring and can revert back to factory with minimal cost (new mirror caps). Plus, you can just one run amplifier if you bridge 2 of the 4 channels. Less sub output, but the cab of the Maverick is so small, that it's really not an issue.

My DSP just arrived. I'm hoping to have it installed this weekend. I'm amplifying just the fronts and will see what kind of results I get with the factory speakers. I'll probably do coaxials in the door since I'm really trying to avoid cutting anything, but I also haven't ruled out components.

I think your idea of using the mirror caps is the way to go for sure. Thx

Did you end up installing components and using the mirror sail panel covers to mount the tweeters? How does everything sound?

Almost any place would sound better than the dash --firing up at windshield.

Actually rethought the install and have taken some more intense steps to get the tweeters in the factory dash spots by remoting the crossovers by the B&O amp. Unlike a lot of people I actually like the soundstage the windshield gives. I am planning on dealing with the imbalance of the center speaker a couple ways. I have the Morel Maximo 6 components. Their 4 ohm tweeters may be more efficient than the B&O tweeters and that would help balance them to the center and if that doesn’t work I‘ve have some high power resistors that I can put on the center and that will bring the volume down for sure. Now the issue is the Morel tweeters are a little too big to go down into the factory spot. I don’t really want to hack those spots. I also have a spare pair of Polk Audio tweeters from some DB6502’S that do fit and they are more efficient than the Morels. So when I get around to it I’ll be trying to shoe horn the Morels in there first. If not I’ll change to the Polks and swap out the crossovers. I’m actually pretty impressed with the volume I’m getting with just the B&O amp along with a 8” sub and separate sub amp. Here is a picture of the Morel crossovers mounted by the amp.
