Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

I ordered a KIA mirror for the $15 from Tasca. Figured you can't go wrong with that since I don't need homelink.

Got an email that they are a "special order" and shipping will be delayed.

Check your local Kia dealer, these mirrors are cheap at the local dealer's, too. I have picked up 3 of them from my local dealer. Now, shop around, I found a big price difference.

I finally Googled how to calibrate the compass of my Kia/Gentex Homelink mirror. It's not hard and it makes a difference. If your mirror says you're going NE when you know darn well you going directly North you might want to give this a try.

Thanks to those in this thread that contributed. I installed this mirror along with a handful of other mods when I got my Mav about a month ago. This one is by far the best value and useful thing I did! The auto-dimming + homelink is great.

Bookmarked and ordered. I literally just thought about this 30 mins ago and couldn't remember if the Maverick had an auto dimming mirror or not.

Yep as the other guy said, page 39. Watch a video on how to remove the dome light trim pieces. It pops out at the back and hinges forward towards the glass. I tried to pry from the other end initially.

Ease of installation varies based on your skill level, but for someone who has done even a tiny bit of wiring or trim removal, it's a piece of cake. I'm running mine off my dome light wiring and it works great.

Hey Peter, Thanks for your reply. It's the wiring that concerns me, and I don't want to void my warranty. I guess I'm going to have to live without Homelink and the auto-diming mirror.... It still amazes me that these weren't' included in the Lariat and XLT.

You won't void your warranty, adding HomeLink is not reprogramming or modifying the engine or transmission.
