Are the facotry XL steelies painted?

Are the XL steel wheels painted? Wondering if they’re painted or just straight steel? I’d be keeping them for a winter set of wheels/tires but if they aren’t painted they will rust pretty fast here.

My guess is painted. If just plain steel they would be rust when delivered.

They are painted. Like most cheap steel wheels the paint is not durable. I would say they may not been primed before painting. Ford no doubt buys
rims from outside source hence lack of quality paint. If I was you I would sand them with scotch pads, spray a good rust preventive primer and a good quality paint like rustoleum or even por-15 or KBS coating on them. Rims tend to rust in the seam area.
