The first thing to check would be the lemon laws in your state. You can do a Google search or go to your states DMV website to find out. If your state has a lemon law then you might be able to require Ford to either refund your money or replace the vehicle. Of course that may put you back on the waiting list.
They do not have to replace it but could have to buy it back which helps no one that waited a year for the truck sadly. Ive never seen a situation where Ford would be compelled to give you another vehicle unless voluntary and that wont happen.

I think it is just a matter of time until Ford realizes it has the same issues with some of the early made Mavericks.
This is the frustrating part with these automakers and dealers. The Maverick hybrid uses the exact same system as the Escape hybrid, so anyone with half a brain would automatically look for any similar issues/fixes that exist for the Escape, but no one seems to ever do that.

Good luck. Mine is definitely not the only one. There’s been posts, comments here and across Facebook groups. It’s spent as much time in the ford service department as it has in my driveway. I’m close to giving up but hoping for a bottom of the 9th fix.
Once you start reading posts on the Escape forum I think you will have a "lightbulb moment" realizing the "marbles in the engine" is exactly what you are describing.

I thank you very much! I’m passing along this info to my dealers service manager and will have them look into it and how it could relate to me. This could be a huge time saver and save me time going back and forth while they scratch their head. I will be updating this thread with info.

I know right ? Hopefully the dealer will be on the right track if he / she reads the Escape TSB. If you hire parts changers - that's what you get. Finding talented Technicians that actually can use common sense and think of solutions is getting really hard - and when all of us old guys die ..... yall are on your own hahahahaha

That's awesome , my hope is you can get your truck repaired and not have to have them buy it back !!!!!! You see sometimes having a redneck around IS useful hahahahahaha

Mine is a July 2022 build

I'm rarely outside the vehicle with the engine on. Yesterday may in fact have been the first time.

Backed into a loading zone in EV.
While loading (in park) the engine started.

Man was I scared / concerned.
It has a less severe version of what was in the video(s).

THIS IS NOT A WELL BUILT TRUCK!!!!
DAMMIT! I so wanted this to be my last truck ever. Probably will be my First Truck Ever I trade in before the warranty expires.

I bought this based on the GREAT reputation of the 2005 Hybrids. Now those got 36 MPG and were bulletproof.

This is a Ford FAIL!

So far the fix was first reprogramming then if that didn't work remove and replace the flex plate on the transmission. - this TSB came out in 2022- Pretty sure its exactly what you are dealing with.

Is there a TSB # associated with this that I could have them reference?

Well .... there will be folks that buy a Maverick and their motor craps out. Transmission failures, hose busts, coolant leakage, windshield rattle, the list goes on and on however its really no different with any manufacturer. I was doing some work at my Lexus dealer the other day and one of their techs was replacing the motor in a 21 GX460 under warranty - some weird casting flaw. A 65K vehicle. The owner was screaming - THIS IS NOT A WELL BUILT TRUCK!!!! .... no not really.

That's why there is a warranty - usually any major problems will show up before the warranty expires. I have a 2021 Ram Promaster Van and that Dodge product is such a POS I bought an extended warranty - engine issues, transmission fails - all common on Chryslers. I always laugh when I see posts like yours because the reality is mechanical things break, sometimes you have to get things repaired and NO vehicle is bulletproof besides my 1986 Toyota 4x4 with a 22R 4 banger. (THAT is bulletproof ) To say "This is a Ford FAIL!" really ? Isnt that being a bit dramatic ?

It’s a 2/22 build. I’d like to think if Ford fixed it in later builds they would have been able to diagnose and fix mine. Everything they have guided the service department to do has done nothing.
My Hybrid is a same day build (2/22/21). I've had no such problem as you describe. My Maverick is parked in the garage each night, outside temp did get to below zero a few nights but just below 32 in garage.

I know I’m not alone with this issue as I’ve seen it reported in many peoples hybrids, mostly in cold climates. Please post here to this thread if you are having the following issue and any fixes and attempts your dealer has made. Maybe we can use this as a guide to hopefully fix what is becoming a more common problem.
Here’s the issue. When in park and idling I get a very rough and loud idle. Engine shakes and clunks and but goes away once put into gear. May or may not have had a check engine light indicating a misfire. (Mine did) I’ve included videos of mine for reference.
I want to get this fixed but my dealer as well as Ford are stumped and maybe this could help people. I am growing frustrated with this vehicle and if not resolved will be trading it in. I want to like it so this is a last ditch effort.
If possible please pin this.

WILD GUESSING! My hybrid lariat did this ONCE has not repeated. I was out of truck (not sure but believe in park ice came on to cycle charge hvb and did it). Just guessing but I believe park holds the planet gear and could this happen if chip is asking for creep mode when it should not be and be causing the damper to "chatter"? Try to put selector into neutral AND SET PARKING BRAKE ON as neutral should disengage creep mode and see if this happens. I neutral and park brake when I get out of truck still but I am sure not all of time. I did also drive my hybrid in ALL drive modes and in each with LOW ON at about 2500 miles to give data to computer. Seemed to help with things but who can tell for certain. Do not forget to turn off parking brake before putting into drive (of course). Further consideration at least one has reported that his dealer replaced his motor mounts due to a defective roll restrictor which caused them to fail. If I remember his complaint was "clunk when braking". May search for his post and see what you think.

I understood that the electric drive motor and the generator/starter motor were redesigned and are smaller and lighter and turn at higher rpms for the maverick. Is this true and if so was the newer models also put into the escape and if so when?
