XLT Hybrid - Keyfob vs Transponder Key

Just curious (I googled but didn't find an answer)....other than convenience features, is the key fob on an XLT necessary?

I am already carrying a proximity keyfob for my other car (push button start) and looking to reduce the clutter in my pockets by just carrying the Transponder key for the Maverick.

Thanks for the heads up...I don't have my Maverick yet...but thought that there was a key and a separate fob (to lock/unlock doors, etc).
Are the unlock/lock buttons on the key?

Yes the Key is necessary.

Yes, switchblade key. You can't separate them. That's pretty much industry standard these days for cars that do not have push button start.

You may be able to get a key made by a locksmith that does not include the buttons. I believe the super duty & f150 in stripped trim is available without power locks, so I would imagine they do not include a flip key. That said they also may not have PATS (or whatever predecessor)

I purchased a second key/key fob for my Mav Lariat. It has Push button start. I searched on eBay and found a seller that had lots of different keys. great_keys. My key cost me $28 plus tax, free shipping. I got it programmed for $50 plus tax.

It probably did, but I couldn't find a new Maverick equipped like I wanted. so I bought a used one and Ford dealer I bought it from had only one key. I got a Lariat AWD with lux package and copilot360. Gets great mpg I’m averaging 34-35mpg.

They need to be together, there is a super short range proximity transponder to disable the factory immobilizer.

I did some searching on eBay earlier after reading posts. I found a flip key for Xlt, XL on eBay for $12 sellers name is good_keys. Which appears to be same outfit I bought my lariat key from. As that user was great_keys.
