My dealer keeps telling me that the battery passes the tests, but when pressed for why auto start stop doesn't work, they can't tell me. Laughable "technicians" and "service" from Ford.

Keep pushing them for a fix.
I had my battery updated to an AGM when auto start stop quit working , techs were not happy Ford kept telling them that all was correct, finally service manager just put the AGM in and said he would deal with Ford. I told him to have Ford call me with any questions. Ford approved the swap, but my dealer was willing to go it alone with me. I love my dealer.

I just went through this this week. Ecoboost Mav with 25k miles.

I had been having issues with the battery needing to be jumped near daily for the last 2 months. For the first month I was getting Fordpass deep sleep messages after having been parked for 6-10 hours, but as the battery got worse It would just die without going into deep sleep.

Took it to the dealer on Monday and they switched out my battery to the AGM model since my HEF battery failed the load test. It took some persuasion to get the better AGM battery like showing them a Maverick on their lot that thankfully had the AGM battery(XLT Lux) I wonder why some models got the HEF battery vs the ones that got an AGM one.

I had been holding out on taking it to the dealership since my truck has a fair number of mods(Escape digital cluster, Adaptive cruise, Ton of Forscan tweaks, custom audio) Luckily the techs could really give a bother and the service manager did'nt seem to bright.

Also if anybody wants to check their as-built, in the BCM, under battery type, it shows my truck having been configured for an AGM battery, but it came from the factory with the HEF battery. Would somebody that has the regular HEF battery check to see if yours is configured like that too? I wonder if that has anything to do with the battery's dying prematurely. That setting does change how the car charges and maintains the battery.

I've asked them to do a parasitic draw test on everything, to try and narrow it down. I'm hoping that will find it or they will be awesome and replace the battery without me paying too lol but I would get the agm instead of this enhanced flood one I got
Agms require different charging than flooded batteries. Don't think you can swap a flooded battery for an agm unless the charging system is changed. Think you may be able to do this in Forescan.

I think @Gilbillygucci may be on to something! I hope Ford is watching this thread. Could be as simple as the programming in the BCM.

You are correct, if you change battery types, capacity, you can change it in forscan under the BCM for the correct type.

Here's the part numbers for the batteries we get in the Mav. I think hybrid has a different 12v battery.

AGM, 760 CCA ,70 AH battery
Part #: BAGM48H6760

And the Enhance flooded one that failed on me. (Came stock in my truck. Early March 2022 build)
Part #: BHEF48H6

That's around the same time that my truck was built as well. I've been wondering if they got a defective batch of batteries.
When I talked to the dealer they said they would be able to change it for me. I really need to go get forescan though lol

Well I got told today that they can't figure out what it is and that since the battery won't fail any tests they can't replace it.
So they told me I need to call corporate to see if they would approve the battery change since my other won't fail and got told by corporate that they won't approve the change unless it fails.
Seems corporate doesn't care very much, and I wish any of the dealerships by me were cool enough to work it out with me instead of trying to over charge me at slightly over 400 for the agm and install.

If my dealer was this unresponsive, I'd just go out and purchase a high-quality AGM battery and use Forscan to make sure that AGM was selected in BCM settings. But before I did that, I'd set the battery type to HEF if it wasn't already and see if that fixed the problem.

Same deal with my shitty dealer. "All the tests check out" yet they can't tell me why my auto start stop system doesn't work at all.

Keep pressing them as I will be doing too.

Are these dealers charging and testing the battery after removing it from the truck? If so, that would point the finger at the charging system.

No sir, they are running the test with battery still on the truck. My charging system is actually amazing from all the tests. I'm hoping since we actually had a kinda cold night last night and that's only time it really acts up that it's acting up for them.
I wish I still had the build log to see if they gave me the wrong battery

I believe I remember somebody on this sight saying they had this same problem. What they found out was the negative battery cable was not tight from the factory. It might be a simple fix like that. I did make a note to check my cables when I got my truck and they were fine. Good luck...

EFB battery from the factory. FORSCAN was configured for AGM.

Usually a reset of the BMS is all you need to clear the low battery warning. Charging the battery after the reset is what I recommend. However, when checking the 'State of Charge' on Forscan the next day, off the charger, it can drop to 70-80%.

Testing with battery tester usually comes up as 'Recharge' and when that's done it seems to recover. The EFB battery sucks in the cold, at least up here in Canada, low warnings left and right when it was -30C+.

Anyone remember what the default setting for the battery? All I remember, it was a Varta and maybe 900CCA?
