Initial $8K price delta + roughly $75/month fuel delta (based on standard EPA 55/45 calc @ the inputs below) both time-valued @ 6%/yr over 10 years equals $26,846.12.

Obviously, many factors/use cases will change the underlying numbers, but it's a realistic (maybe even conservative) estimate. I'm not saying the Tremor doesn't provide value to some, but $200/mo cost delta needs to translate into a boatload of utility for me.

even at your most extreme projection of 100% city, how does $1,571 * 10 years equal $26k difference? That is the number I’m asking about. Your chart does not match $26k at all.

I gave you the entire TCO calculation in the text. The chart is just the fuel economy schedule I used to figure the fuel cost portion of the TCO.

He's including the purchase price of the vehicle - which does factor into TCO.

Technically the difference in purchase price (since we're simply comparing the two models). Ideally, we'd also subtract the difference in resale value after 10 years of depreciation to get a more accurate estimate, but I legit can't say that might look like in ten years (i.e., I can see a market in ten years where a 2023 hybrid is getting more than the tremor in the used market).

Huh? No, you didn’t. I’m very simply asking how you arrived at $26k? Your text does not explain that at all. It explains how you get to $15k using $4 a gallon at 15k miles a year.

are you using an additional 11k on the tremor? Where is that coming from? A 2023 hybrid xlt base is the more comparable trim and even using XL, the difference is not $11k.

Made a vid about my Hybrid and Tremor orders. Not trying to spam for views, it’s relevant to the Maverick. Which would you all choose?

I would choose Hybrid. MPG is amazing.

I see that, just don’t see how it gets to that number is all I was asking.. Your top projection of 5 years * 2 + purchase price doesn’t get to $26k over ten years. ($6,220*2 to get to 10 years) + $8,000 purchase difference =$20,440

Even using your 15k mile a year number: ($1571 * 10 years) +$8,000 purchase difference = $23,710

Or your $75 difference a month number. ($75 * 120 months) + $8,000 = $17,000

how did you get to $26k is what I’m asking

I am so confused why you’re using a FV calculation on a purchase price difference and how you have now 4 different sets of numbers and calculations that all equal different numbers. I’m not asking you to repost totals. I’m asking how and why you’re getting to any of these numbers.

The fact you think a $22k vehicle will have more value than a 30k vehicle simply on MPG is some pretty big bias as well. guess I just don’t get it lmao

Because opportunity cost is generally considered part of TCO (i.e., not receiving the future value of the extra money your spending is a legitimate cost). By contributing $17K more in ownership over 10 years you're effectively losing out on an additional $9K.

so you baked in a number of “opportunity cost” of spending more on gas while ignoring any possible “opportunity cost” of driving a fwd hybrid over a 4WD? You ignored the difference in possible depreciation/appreciation but add in opportunity cost of “not having that extra money cuz gas?” You see no problem with that?

I just don’t find these extra numbers to be good estimates is all. The difference in purchase price + gas, sure. The rest is conjecture to me.
