As my mother would as me in my youth when I ask for something. Her response to me was it’s a want or a need? I started looking at the Maverick in the spring of 2022. The order book for 2023 opened and closed before I could sign up. It is now December and customers still have not received the 2022 order or their 2023 replacement. In August when a Maverick Lariat hit the dealer lot and was marked up 5K I walked away from it. I am familiar with the Maverick because my neighbor ones one and I liked it. It was easy to compare with a ranger a different neighbors has one of them. 1. The ranger will not fit in my over full 3 car garage 2. The Maverick fits in my garage and meets my needs. the dealer had a lot of bites on the maverick and no takers. The 2023 pricing came out and the differences in packages between 2022 and 2023. The real Problem was I would have to wait and place a order for a 2024. So I sat down escalated the 2023 price to a 2024 price using the difference between 2022 and 2023. With the price increase higher interest and lower trade in the 5k mark up might mot be a bad deal for a truck now. I found the 2022 at a 2023 price to be a acceptable price for the truck I wanted.
If you bought it at Pundmann I may have driven the same truck. I could not see paying $5k over sticker at the time but after I thought about it for a while I could see doing it. I did not really need it at the time so I ordered one and hope to get it by spring/summer.

Continues to amaze me that some people don't understand that there are certain things in life where one's actions can affect others. An example is pushing up pricing on the same product. Wonder why people might not like that idea...
And your point is? Specious arguments aside, all of us as individuals set our OWN limits and values on transactions we consider "fair" or reasonable to US. There's no collective group think here about paying above or below MSRP. A small group of posters here rigidly stick to their principals on what they will pay- good for them! Don't try to condemn people who don't share those principals on car buying in the new age. It's an individual decision and nobody else's. Anybody that wants to boycott a product or dealer over pricing- go for it. Just understand you made the decision not to have a truck- nobody else caused that. Limited supply and high demand is responsible.

On the flip side, I also don't feel bad about selling my spare house for $65k more than I had any right to expect. Multiple offers 1st day and sold. Supply and demand dictated the price- in my favor this time. Buyer thought it was a good deal & I Got my Maverick for free because of luck and free market! I had budgeted $30k for a smaller truck like 4 years ago but would not have bought any of the mid-size available. Then Maverick appeared and after applying due diligence decided it would work for me. Asked my dealer about pricing and their policy is MSRP on special customer orders. I paid $26k out the door, but it was worth a couple thousand more to ME if that's what it would have cost and still been under original budget. You win some, you lose some- that's life...

That is the problem. Someone without knowledge of real msrp or in a difficult circumstance eventually is willing to pay that ridiculous ADM fees. Then they try to justify some way as to why they couldn’t wait for the order to come in or prices to come down. It sucks but is good at the same time. I mean maybe you got 1k more for your trade in or something.
They have to know the MSRP since by law the sticker must remain on a new truck until it is sold.

Like I stated my negotiated price was near the 2023 price. My wife told me to go buy the truck and she didn’t care about the over MSRP. I love the truck you and I both passed over at least once. My favorite quote is “You snooz you loose”. Thanks to my wife I did not snooze too long. If you see the 3RD MAV around town please wave.

It was nicely equipped and I like the color. Later I thought I should have offered them $40k out the door (not including sales tax) but I don't think they would have taken it. They were pretty good and straight with info. I ended up ordering from a dealer closer to my house.

There is a old proverb “If you don’t ask you will never now the answer”. One thing I would rather have is the XLT wheels. I like some shine.

I just remembered something that illustrates the market price, no matter what the MSRP. I once owned a 57 Chevy 2 door Hardtop I bought for $1,200 when it was 4 years old. I just saw one advertised for $77,000. I guess you could say it will sell ABOVE MSRP.

The dealer where my truck is order has an ecoboost awd on the lot for 10k over msrp. My question with all of these over msrp sales is 1 the loan. How does a bank finance the amount over msrp and 2 insurance, how does that cover the amount over msrp.

You are happy, the dealer is happy, Ford is happy and the deal got done. That's all that matters.

Enjoy your new truck!

My point was concisely stated. No further comment is necessary as it will not lead to any productive discussion at this point.. All I'll say is it seems you feel the need to defend your actions. Not gonna read into it, though.

Happy holidays, everyone!

😂 How is the ever loving heck is that trolling? Calling people who highlight your absurd take trolls is not a very strong counter point.

Your salty position on people selling goods for market rate is so comically absurd that it is destined for ridicule. What else did you expect?

By the way, we went out for dinner the other night and I saw that they had lobster for “market price”! The nerve of them! I told the waiter that the lobster was $28 when we ate there last year and there is no reason it should be a penny over that this year. It’s not like the lobsters have new tech that makes them better.
Did you finance the lobster?

Lot of dealers in my area have 22s in stock at 5k over. Must be lots of people walking away from the order. Dont blame them really with trade values tanked and high interest rates.
OUR DEALER KEEPS GETTIN ECOS IN NO HYBRIDS! started about $4,000 over msrp then $3,000 over then less than $2,000 over they seem to sell within days each load!! still waiting on our hybrid waited a year, now reordered as a 23 who knows. darn near got a santa cruz this week, as our dealer now charges msrp, no add ons, he had a SE for $26,500 ish, but I was too late, that is the only one I would want, they have many sel-night ones- limited etc, but they all cost too much. merry Christmas to all !!

Gentlemen regardless of what a Individual decides to pay it is not our job to judge him or her. We live in a free market economy based on supply and demand. The Maverick is in short supply right now just like eggs, milk and bread. So should we criticize the person paying $4.00 for eggs right now or the higher price for gas. Before you criticize study economics.

So you would look at the Santa Cruz ? That's the only competitor for Maverick .
I did it is similar but different. I also looked at the frontier and I Feel it is a good truck. A plus to the frontier is a 6 cyl engine and a frame. Negatives are poorer fuel economy and extra cost. Same truck was more than the Maverick. If I knew the cargo tie down limitations of the Maverick before buying I might have given the frontier more consideration. Limitation is cross tie down can twist frame. I saw this some were in the owner’s manual fine print. But I am only going to do limited hauling so it is not really important to me.

If I could find a comparable competitor to the Mav, I'd have bought one already. There just isn't one. Yet. Ridgeline is great, lots of features, but much bigger, more expensive and lousy MPG. Same for Frontier and Colorado. Somebody put a direct competitor out there that is also available to buy... I'm there. You think any of us WANT to wait a year plus for a truck?
I understand, and the Maverick is unique in size and functionality. My wife doesn't miss crawling up into my former 2018 Colorado and I really enjoy the agility and functionality of the Maverick. I hope the resolution to my Maverick's issue is reasonably quick and painless.
But as much as I like it, reliability is paramount. I might have to replace it with a small SUV and use it with a utility trailer for my "truck needs" if it is going to be down for weeks or months.
