Anybody else have to get used to the mavericks size?

It feels bigger than it is while driving it. The size of the cabin in proportion to the entire car is pretty big compared to other double cab trucks.

I think you've expressed what many of us are experiencing. I think I'm pretty big until I get out.

Like most of you here, I have trouble judging the distance with the front in parking spaces with the rear hanging out. I plan on fixing that tomorrow. I got a "rear" parking camera that I plan on mounting on the front to see how close I get.

Great idea. We have that in our Hyundai and I miss that in the Maverick. Please keep us posted on how that proceeds. Very interested in your findings.

After driving a Taurus for 18 years, yes this is a BIG change, I like many think I am far enough ahead in the parking space, but am not, I found backing into a space is better, because of the camera I line up the bumper with the line on the pavement & the white lines on the screen line me up with the lane lines that you can't see out the side of the truck. Also hopped a couple curbs with the right rear tire. I will get used to all of it in time, still the best motor vehicle purchase I have ever made.

My daily drivers were 5 regular cab rangers since 1989. I drove my mustang for fun in the summer. I had a first year neon I bought from a family member and drove a little before I sold it.

I have had some struggles getting used to my mav. It's wider is the most obvious thing.

I got the xlt, fx4. The other night right in front of the courthouse, I ran over a curb on a narrow street turning right. Both wheels in the grass. No traffic, but practicing on a tight turn to stay in my lane.

Anybody else having to learn the way a new type of vehicle drives?

It is a lot shorter than my Dodge Ram 4x4 but since I have gotten used to driving the Maverick, it's my Dodge that feels different now!

It did take a little getting used to the turning radius of the Maverick. Not as tight in turns as I would think it should be. I guess it's that electric steering that limits it.

Ya, I thought it would do better in the turning radius, too. My bigger Palisade has a much tighter radius . . . unusual for a larger vehicle. Far from a deal breaker. Love the truck!

That's true. Something about being limited by the drive system. Front wheels on RWD have no such hindrances.

Especially when I'm trying to judge the distance from the hood end. I think I'm all the way into the parking space until I get out and notice I have 3 or 4 feet more to go!

Size is easy, just a little bigger than my Buick- have to think more in the parking lots. What takes getting used to are the brakes on the hybrid.

First few times parking I came way too close to putting the front passenger side into the car next to me while pulling in. My last car was an Element, and that thing was a bit narrower and shorter and had an amazing turn radius.

Of course it will all even out over time as I get used to the new dimensions
