A weekly schedule remote start works well. Leave AC off. Let it run full 15mins. The ICE usually only comes on for a few minutes to top off high voltage battery and in turn powers the 12v. The full 15mins.

So long as you don't store it in a garage, of course.

ICE runs for only a few minutes an unoccupied garage shouldn’t be a large issue. But most garages have built in vents in Texas.

I like the idea of the onboard battery tender. How and where would you mount that for the rear underseat battery? Is there space for a tender? How would you run the extension cord to the tender? Is there a place to mount an onboard tender under the hood? Can a battery tender even be hooked up under the hood, since the battery in located under the rear seat for the hybrid?
Since the area around the rear seat mounted battery is designed for storage, there should be room to mount a small trickle charger like the NOCO. How to run the power cable out to 120v outlet presents a more difficult problem. At the very least it probably could be passed out through an open window. There might be a way to drop it down under the truck, but that might require making a hole. Truth is, I haven't looked very hard at the battery with the idea of using a trickle charger . . . been down with the flu.

There are pre-made holes.
You don't need to drill.
You may have to cut and mend back on your 120 VAC plug though. I don't think the ready made holes are big enough for the plug to pass. But the wire. Absolutely.

Also by cutting the cord you now can put heat shrink tube on the part of the cord that passes through the truck to armor it from rubbing and chaffing. Do this with or without a rubber grommet in the hole since you are using 120 volts but smart to do with any wire.

Much appreciated you researching this with eyes-on rather than my guesses. Good-to know information that makes adding the bolt on trickle-charger more feasible. I'd want a way to secure the plug from dragging itself on the ground when driving, but I'm thinking that shouldn't be a problem.

I snake mine via sliding rear window. But only actually top off the battery every so rarely anymore. Preferred schedule remote start instead.

That is definitely something I will consider. Key word in your post is 'scheduled' otherwise Remote Start may bump heads with Deep Sleep. Words are capitalized because they represent new action heroes I just invented.

There should be no need to run 120vac into the truck, the charger generally resides outside. All my fun cars run Battery Tenders. The thin cable going into the cars is already stepped down to ~12vdc and has a thin connector only slightly larger than the cable itself. Most are simply plugged into the car’s cigarette lighter receptacle / 12v power port to backfeed the battery.

Here's the location of a pretty convenient access point to the underbody.

Cigarette lighter access only works if the 12v power stays on after ignition is off. Not all vehicles have that feature. Besides, it wouldn't be a horse race if every horse was identical.

Thank you!
No problem.
I used that hole to get my aftermarket trailer brake wire to the rear. Lots of "hollow" spaces to snake wires.

That looks like a great battery maintainer that you linked to on amazon.
I'm tempted to get one for my spare batteries stored for off road toys.
I mean, I have one, but it's years old and I don't remember it having the temperature compensating aspect.

Correct, not all vehicles constantly power the 12v receptacle, for those that do, it's a convenient location to charge.

'Battery Tender" is a well tested and respected brand and offers them in a number of configurations.

Good luck...

Yeah. Most vehicles have access holes in one spot or another. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to check it out. Like I said, I'm still down with the a "flu" (an ass-kicker, by the way) and have the back seat loaded with Amazon and appropriately to this thread, a HD return. Saw the Vector Combo Battery Jumper/Air Compressor half off and grabbed it (without doing any research on it, I might add). Worthless. Wouldn't start a motorcycle. 5 minute use of the air compressor completely drained the battery. I don't understand how anyone could market such crap.

Here's the link to a YouTube review:

And he's not the only one who says to avoid this product.
