Not disagreeing, but this also ignores the often dealt wild cards. Heck, dealer by me has 5 allocations for the year, and 5 orders, and 4/5 have been scheduled/built, 3 of those 4 being XL Hyb. And other dealer close to us has 4 allocations, 4 orders (3 hybrid), and all 4 have been scheduled. So yeah, in general, across the board, your advice is good. But there is a lot of real world evidence showing that in spite of all of the common sense predictions and speculation, that anything can happen.
What if you were an unscheduled MY22 XL Hybrid rolled to a MY23 XL Hybrid? Priority build code of 10. Should I be worried that I will not get a 2023?

Great 22 orders get screwed again. Ordered Oct. 2021. Get vin and several build dates. Finally get canceled. Want your truck sooner drop these items which I did knowing that I can add them on but at a higher price. It works. I get a vin and schedule date. Now Ford says no you don't have to drop them and in fact we will sell you them at a discount. Another punch to the nuts by Ford

Nope but just get that after you get the truck
Do we KNOW this, or is it just assumed? I think I am going to email my salesman and ask. He has been pretty responsive. I'll send him this, ask him to check if it's possible to add for my build week of 1/9, but say in no way do I want to be un-scheduled if that is what would happen. I'd really like the SIBL and rails for $500 if possible.

My subjective opinion, after owning an FX4 EcoBoost Maverick and now a Hybrid Maverick for 8 months is there should only be a hybrid or electric variants of the Maverick. The EcoBoost, FX4, Tremor etc. is silly for this type of vehicle.
I do truly understand why people want AWD or light towing in a small truck, but for the greater vision of @Ford Motor Company it seems like a missed opportunity.

If that’s your want or need- get a Ranger or an F150. We have the latter to accompany the Maverick. That said, the hybrid Maverick is easily one of my favorite vehicles ever owned. It’s nearly perfect in every category for what it is. I enjoy it more than I ever did our Tesla’s or other vehicles in the past.
This is why I think the number of people making the switch will be limited and so EB order holders should not worry much.

That said, it still depends why you need what you need. I'm getting the EB 4K because I really just need an Escape with more hauling capacity as I do a ton of camping with the scouts. The extra towing capacity of the 4K at least puts me in the pool for pulling the smaller trailer from time to time. And the EB Maverick with 4K is still a lot cheaper than a Ranger.

I asked Ford to allow people to switch power trains (not that they listened to me :p)so I’m happy to see this. It is better for customers and for Ford to deliver trucks to customers who want them rather than stock units to dealer.

I still think Ford did a horrible job managing the 2023 order process. They should have told dealers their allocation numbers in advance and cut off orders for hybrids much faster than they did.

Also concur with what others are saying. I have a canceled VIN 2022 rollover order and I might have included the spray-in liner and rails on the truck with this information and pricing. But I’m already scheduled in January so I’m not messing with my order at this point.

Fully agree, there are some unknowns, especially in the Ford algorithm.

But in both the cases you cited, the orders were close to first place and there were allocations, so they got pulled.

I just got off the phone with my dealer and they said they haven’t received any news from Ford, about the special price for the sibl and cargo management system. Who do you believe 🤷🏻

I suppose if you had a hybrid, you'd have to ask yourself if you thought you were in the first 47.9% of people who ordered one at your dealer and if you thought they'd be spread evenly throughout the dealer network AND if your dealer has enough allocations.
When my dealer called me to see if I still wanted to order once the order banks opened up I said yes. I was going to go on Friday after they opened the ordering on Thursday but they had no reservation spots left I ws told. I was there early Saturday morning.

I think they are a major dealer in the Syracuse area and seems like they weren't just letting everyone order a 2023 Maverick by their reservation slots. So if they closed the orderbanks Tuesday, i'm maybe about halfway down the order list.

Fingers crossed 🤞 🍻

Not sure this is the thread to respond, but... I camp at elevation (6k ft to 8k ft) pulling a popup. A $28k EB AWD 4K Tow Maverick with it's forced induction 250hp will let me do that comfortably and confidently (cooling mods for the 4k package are a no brainer). The Hybrid, with it's naturally aspirated 160hp once the battery is depleted (quickly at elevation, with grade, towing a 1800lb trailer) will struggle. When not towing, the EB will still see 30+ mpg.

Now, I could buy a Ford Ranger or F150 and pay substantially more for 4 doors and a bed and not match the Maverick EB fuel economy.

Now of course an EcoBoost 2.0l, AWD, 4K Tow, PlugHybrid would just be the cats meow and all things to everyone. But that doesn't exist and probably never will (or at least not until Gen2 of the platform).

Its hilarious when they say they havent heard anything when this whole thread is based on a memo sent from Ford to the dealers.....

It all depends on where you sit on that dealers order list. If you are at or near 1st place (ahead of all the new 2023 orders) and the dealer has allocations, you might be OK.

Rollover orders should be ahead of others at any particular dealer, if they followed the instructions to set rollovers to priority 10 and others to priority 19. But you may remember some posts where scummy dealers were setting new orders at priority 10 equal to or ahead of their own rollovers. There’s a crap shoot element in all of this.

Tell them to open their FMC page that they should have up and look at the first line on the front page.

That memo doesn't look good for hybrid and xl orders. If people can't change from a hybrid to Ecoboost what can they do?..
What Ford is telling us is, "Go f&%k yourself. We make all the rules and, if you don't like them, cancel your order because we don't care about our customers."

Certainly not a dealer, and especially a salesperson who still may be in the dark about the very latest info.
