I noticed yesterday on the Ford Store website it says it's compatible with the XL. Not sure that it is, though.
I can't see why it wouldn't be. Unlike older units I think the version compatible with the XL must be programmed by someone at a Ford dealership and can't be done with Forscan. From what I understand it could be programmed just using the vehicle and ignition key on older models. I believe someone here had their dealer install it but needed to bring a printout from another forum because the tech had no idea. Apparently it took the tech just a few minutes to program with their system.

Good to know, thanks.

I have it installed on my XL. I didn’t configure it with forscan, the dealer did it, took him 2 minutes.

Thanks amigo. Maybe this will help clear up confusion for other folks going forward. Ordered the wrong part because technically there is remote start through the app, but I believe Ford are referring to the remote start on the key fob.

Glad to help. I had no idea, it was my buddy at the dealership that knew what I needed.

Just to further clear confusion and potentially help someone else, I think it has more to do with the frequency that the keyfob with remote start uses (433mhz) vs regular keyfobs (315mhz). The keypad you add to your door is nothing more than a passcode secured keyfob that you glue to your door so it has to use the same frequency as your regular keyfob. The fordpass remote start has nothing to do with keyfob frequency so technically it doesn't really count.

I believe you are correct. If that was stated in the product description on the site I think it would clear up the confusion.

Ford were pretty easy to deal with and are refunding the money so I can order the correct part.

This triggered a question for me.

I have the factory installed one.

Is the factory installed one also battery op and at some point the battery will die? Or is the factory one wired?

Curious.
🤔

It’s my understanding they are hard wired

I purchased one then needed to return as I was unable to get it working. Ford quoted me over $100 to install it for me.
