Hello all, I read one other thread where something like this was happening but wasn't sure if I am doing something incorrectly. I have the SIBL and installed the bed rails square (as close as I could get it) and flush towards the cab as far as I could go. However, there's a clear gap in the front (near the cab) - I could clearly see light coming in while I was in the bed tightening the front knobs, and my finger can actually be seen from outside:

This is clearly going to be a way for water to ingress at the cab!!

Have others experienced this? If so, what did you do? I don't see that I can adjust the rails any differently - they are as far forward as I can get them and tightly clamped.

When I installed the cover like in the instructions (with the vinyl cover at the same level as the bed rails up towards the cab), the locking mechanism could not engage, the cover was too long. So I can't shift the cover away from the cab much at this point.

The tailgate seems to be OK, but the front is just wonky.

Thanks for any help!

So I removed everything and put in some more foam, so I think I may have solved the finger gap issue. However, has anyone else seen that the width doesn't seem to be perfect?

This is my driver's side, as I unroll the cover - the 1/8" space and the cover latch seems to fit nicely in the rail groove:

However, when I then go to look at the passenger side, it doesn't fit correctly in the groove:

It's almost as if the bed is too wide? I installed it as I received it - I didn't install or remove any shims on the rails. This is kind of frustrating, because if I get it "centered", neither side properly fits into the groove, so as I unroll and roll it up it's going to keep getting crooked.

Anyone else have this problem? Thanks so much.

Mine has a foam there. And it’s water tight so far
Had it installed by local accessory shop Ideal Automotive Accessories they are a BAK authorized installer. See pics

Thanks! I think I figured out the first issue with the foam. I put my strip a little bit to centered on the bulkhead, so I use a couple short pieces for where the bed rails meet the bulkhead.

As for the second issue, the groove's not aligning, I'm going to shim one of the rails by 1/8" to see if that helps.

I am going to order a hard roll-up tonneau cover soon. Either the BAK Revolver 4 or the Tuxedo Sentry. I'd like everyone's opinion on here. Thanks.

I love my Revolver 4Xs! ZERO complaints, took less that 30 minutes to install it by myself including cleaning up the huge box it came in, LOL.

Thank you. Anything you don't like? About needing to roll up a bit to close tailgate/ lock?
Nope, it's great and I'd order the same one again if I had to. Make sure and contact @Realtruck for a Maverick Truck Club member discount! Alex is great to work with.

I started with the Truxedo Pro X15, sent it back and got the X4S. Like it WAY better. Among other things, no more have to seal the Velcro down.
And I love being able to open and close my tailgate without touching the cover; which I had to with the X15.

Overall, I do really like the bak X4S cover. I wish it was a bit more water tight. Because of the 1/8 in aluminum shims I had to install under the rails, I get a little leaking of water up towards the cab when it rains. So far it hasn't been a big issue, if I need something dry I either put it in the backseat or put it towards the center of the bed and secure it.

But the rollup mechanism works great, it looks great, and I have no complaints besides the water ingress and the difficulty I had installing it. But, as you can see from other comments here, other people haven't had the issues I have had.

Real Truck was(?) working on a solution for water ingress near the front of the bed. They mentioned it on one of their YouTube videos six months ago. Not sure if that made it to market or not. Might be worth asking about.

I have installed the x4s few days ago. I read instruction and watched related videos. I added the foam near the bulkhead (the thicker one you also used but closer to the rear edge). There were also some small pieces of foam I added to the 4 corners of the bed as in the video

I still get water coming in. Both near the front and the rear.
The rear area in particular seems to have plenty of possible locations where the water can come into.
I also have the elevated rack that in my opinion adds to the problem as it limits the possibility for the water to move out to the sides as it places obstructions along the edges of teh tonneau.
The x4s package came with so many extra pieces of foam that I will try to add some where I see the water coming through. It may not look as elegant to have these small pieces attached allover but I will try. I think the shown below will be the entry way to all the water that is collected and moves at the edge of the cab. I have the same situation as you. We need to add some extra foam there.

Thanks for the info. Do you have an opinion on the Tuxedo hard roll-up?

I don't have any personal experience with it so I can't comment. Same company, I believe, so I'm sure it's a good product and they'll stand behind it.
