Hey guys!
I've got some shitty news... My sales rep at my local Ford was being a bit evasive over the phone so I went in person to see if he had any updates on my order, AND BOY DID HE!!!! Ford is allocating only a percent of all orders PER DEALER, and a tiny amount of those produced ordered are going to be hybrids. Here's where I got pissed:
If your order is not one of the above mentioned orders, your "Bumped" to next year's order lot!!!! So they're canceling your 2023 order and will recreate that order for next year, when the order banks open. I wasn't told this automatically, and basically had to pry that info from my dealer's sales rep. If your still waiting, GO ASK!!

So now that I'm not getting a Maverick, I'm gonna get myself into a Hyundai Santa Cruz. Your thoughts are always welcome 🤷‍♂️

Is there a FUD filter for this forum? I'd love to turn it on.

Ford isn't going to make all the requested orders. Only a select few, and the majority of those are Turbo engines.

I don't think anything has really changed here from what we have already heard. Maybe that they are already officially thinking about rolling some my23 hybrids to my24? I expected that!

Oh. Yeah, that’s been mentioned multiple times. It’s why there were rollovers. Thanks for the clarification.

Let me fix it for you.

"Ford is allocating only a percent of all orders PER DEALER" = Ford is allocating as many production slots as they have capacity for. They are distributing those allocations via a disclosed formula that takes into account prior sales volume.

"A tiny amount of those produced ordered are going to be hybrids" = Ford knows how many hybrid engines/drivetrains they are going to have available. They predict it will be roughly 30-35% of the total production. They have disclosed this. Not a secret.

"If your order is not one of the above mentioned orders, your "Bumped" to next year's order lot" = Wellllll.....yes and no. Ford has said there will be no roll-overs from 23 to 24 model year. So you would need to re-order a 24 when the order banks open.

"They're canceling your 2023 order and will recreate that order for next year, when the order banks open." = See answer above. They (your dealer) should not be canceling anything right now. Your dealer should sit and wait and see what happens with production. Your dealer has no idea if YOUR Maverick will be selected to fill one of their allocations. None of us will know the final answer until Ford has issued the last VIN/scheduled for the last day of production. We wont know that for a few months from now at least.

Is there any real news here? Ford took 86,000 Maverick orders for 2023.

Of those, the vast majority were for hybrids.

But Ford can only build about 30% of 2023 Mavs as hybrids. That is FAR fewer than how many hybrids were ordered.

All this has been known for months. So, if you have a hybrid order that is not a rollover at Priority 2, getting your vehicle is pretty much a crapshoot at this point.

On the other hand, if you have an Ecoboost order, you should feel somewhat confident of being scheduled and built at some point in the 23 production cycle.

Again, nothing really new here. Sounds like the OP was unaware, or hadn't really let the reality of the situation sink it yet.

Ford notified dealers no price protection and no rollovers 23 to 24. Dealers did not inform buyers. Ford allowed dealers to place more orders than they could possibly manufacture for 23.
I predict Ford will provide price protection and rollovers 23 to 24. We'll know in the next 11 months.

Yes, this makes more sense than the originally craziness.....

We all know there are more hybrid orders than production capacity. It has only gotten worse since the cancelled 22 hybrids had to be shifted to 23.

Dealers have not been told that 23 orders will be cancelled. There are still months of scheduling and production left. No dealer knows (and I'm sure Ford doesn't either) which of the unscheduled 23 Mavericks will, or will not, be scheduled/built in MY23.

During a meeting about the Maverick allocation, Ford reps did admit that they really didn't give customers or dealers enough time to adjust to their new allocation formula (since most dealers didn't get their numbers before Maverick order banks opened), and that they would be monitoring the order banks for retail orders.
I don't think that this means that all retail orders will be built. Allocation will still matter. But I do think that dealers will way more retails than allocation will get some more retail units built. So if you have an EB ordered, I think you have a good chance of getting it built (despite allocation). We all know that there will be many hybrids left unscheduled.

If I remember the text of that bulletin, they said no price protection. There was no mention of rollovers yes or no. I doubt very, very much that Ford will just cancel an order, they will roll it over in some fashion. Hopefully using a better system than they did this year.
