My Hybrid - Built on May 10 (before cut off date on the loose wiring harness connection issues noted on Technical Service Bulletin 22-2340)

Past few days it started going into deep sleep mode after every drive. my OBD reader is saying that when parked, voltage is going down to low 12s... Anyways, it's starting up fine but I'm wondering all this is a preview to the dreaded battery failure due to loose connection. I was fortunately able to expedite an appointment at my dealer for next week at earliest for assessment and sent them the TSB for reference.

In the meantime, bought myself a NOCO GB40 for future "USE"...and in general it's handy to be that guy who has a booster they can lend to ppl :p

Anyways, I'll document the journey here so people who don't know, can know what to look out for.

I hope your dealer repairs your issue! I'm taking mine in on November 28th for the same issue, (3rd time), but this time I called Ford first and they gave me a ticket number to share with the dealer so they can monitor the repair. If I get a good fix, I'll post it.

nice! Did you call a specific Ford number or just regular customer service? I just referenced the technical service bulletin they they sent around in Sept.

I called Ford Complaint Line, 800-392-3673, but I think it still sends you to the Maverick dept, but the person I talked to was very helpful. I'm in the Chicago area, only 25 degrees today, and the motor runs a lot more than when its above 50, I figure it would charge better, but I just got my Daily deep sleep mode warning as I returned home 2 hours ago from grocery shopping.

It's almost as if my Mav was listening to me complain as the deep sleep modes have stopped the past few days...Granted I drove a lot more over the weekend so that probably helped the battery stay charged a bit better. Anyways, it's at the dealer now so we'll see what they come back with.

So dealer changed the battery out as it wasn't sustaining a charge and just re-fastened the existing harness....they dont want to change out everything if it's not the culprit yet and luckily, they can get a wiring harness quickly if that doesn't solve the issue.

This issue has been plaguing many of us hybrid owners. I get the Deep Sleep message within seconds of turning off the truck, every time. We are starting to go longer and longer before I have to use the booster, which I attribute to the cooler weather (had to hit it quite often when it was warmer out). For example, it has started every day for the last 16, and the last time we had to jump it the truck almost started but failed. That was after six days of not being driven and instead of the voltage reading 5.7 like it always did when jumping, that time it read 9.2. Almost seems to be rectifying itself but we'll see.

Have you taken this to your dealer with reference to the technical service bulletin? I'm fairly certain you have a loose connection with your wiring harness that needs to be replaced....or you have a faulty battery(but this is less likely IMO). There is no way you should need to boost this much for a vehicle that is 1-2 years old at most. At minimum, warranty would replace the battery but the bigger picture should be to take a look at the wiring harness

Did take it a few months back when we were having a lot of this issue. They found a faulty cell in the battery and replaced it but said they couldn't find anything else. I have seen reference to the technical service bulletin but I am not sure I have it, only the various recall notices.

I just went through this today. The connection wasn't loose and didn't wiggle. 2.8 volts was the give away.
Connector was replaced and crimped as opposed to soldered, we shall see.

TSB is referenced here - https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...vericks-built-on-or-before-may-13-2022.21114/

Dealer should straight up replace the wiring harness since they already replaced the battery esp since you're still getting low V readings. Send the TSB and number to the dealer and have them order the wiring harness ahead of time so you're not without a vehicle for that many days.

Thank you, sir. I have printed off the TSB and will use it with our local dealer. The truck was going in Wednesday for an oil change and I wanted them to address this issue again, so your reply was timely. Thx!

Did your battery replacement resolve your issue?
