Alright I have a strange issue that I’m hoping someone else may have some knowledge on.

I just took delivery of my 2022 Maverick xlt ecoboost 4k fx4 Wednesday. “Yay finally!” Test drive went fine and no issues to report. Apparently left the cargo light on while doing paper work and couldn’t start when trying to leave dealership, tons of service codes showing on the dash. We jumped the truck and drove around about 45 minutes 22 miles or so and took her home no issues.
Next morning go to start dead again with lots of codes showing again…try to jump start it no go, dealership tries jump box no go, in the process of figuring out how to get the truck in neutral to roll to put on tow truck I release the manual parking brake release and turn the key just a little further than on and she started up “weird”. Got her to the dealer and they deep cycle charge the battery and clear the codes and ran for 30 minutes without issues. Go to pick it up 3 hours later same thing again no start and codes all on the dash. But I have full cabin lights, locks windows and everything good…with the service manager I test a theory with the manual parking brake release again. Starts right up no issue…I’ve left her in their hands, waited a year and a month and only got 22 solid miles out of her. Anyone of you more seasoned maverick owners or that have had some time wrenching on them have any clues? Looking for information to help the dealership out as their lead tech and ford fsc try to figure out what’s going on. @Ford Motor Company do you have any insights or ways to assist? Pretty bummed out I traded my bullet proof 100% reliable civic at this point, had a feeling I should have just taken a higher monthly payment or payed a little more down instead of trading.

thanks for any responses

MY RULE #1: From experience if electrical issue REPLACE BATTERY FIRST. Then diagnose..... But you are under warranty so have to play with their Ball! FYI I have hybrid XLT LUX and have turned my key to on several times without turning it all they way past the spring return point to "ready" the truck and got error codes. Do not expect this to be your problem due to needing to engage starter BUT maybe your ignition switch is defective????

Key on engine off and lots of lights means absolutely nothing. Just FYI. Those are just all auto system checks running or getting ready to run once it is started.

If you had the DTC codes that would be helpful. Either way sounds like a loose or bad wire harness. If it was a bad battery you shouldn't have been able to restart it the second time just by playing with the parking brake.

Maybe I didn’t word it well, these are not just dash lights they are full on service required you have to ok out of, like collision detect disabled, serve trac disabled etc all service required. Engine doesn’t turn over at all unless parking break release cable has been pulled

Unfortunately I do not have the dtc codes, hope to hear something back from dealer today and I’ll try and get more information

Please get back to us with what you find. I hate the fact that with a dead truck you can't get it into neutral. Have a Toyota mr2 that behaves like that, tow truck driver dragged it on a flatbed. I cringed the whole time.

They have a manual release for 4 wheel towing. It is in the manual how to do it but a quick explanation is center console tray under the hvac controls, remove the plastic top cover, there will be door you can open under it and a pull handle that when engaged will disengage the parking lock and allow all 4 wheels to roll like in neutral.

If this happened to me even before leaving the dealership for the first time I would have been very upset!! I really hope they're able to figure out the issue. Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Battery terminals are tight? Please keep us updated on this. Makes me nervous as I have a very similar '23 order. Really hope it's not turning into a lemon 🍋.. Wish you luck.

I’ve seen multiple reports here on the forum of bad batteries and a suspected bad batch of batteries. Same/similar issues like your having all cured with a new battery.
The dealer needs to do a thorough test of the battery and replace if bad.

I’ve also seen a similar issue reported and it was a loose ground strap.

seem to recall something on the Sport forum about a bad elec connector on the transmission causing multipul fault problems

Sounds like the parking brake switch is the issue. No issue starting when the brake is disabled with the manual release. Maybe it's a bad ground at the switch or a bad switch altogether.

Good morning! This does not sound like the experience we want you to have with your new Maverick. If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can assist with your concerns on my end.

You deep charge it and it works and then it stops working after a little bit? Sounds like the battery is bad and can't hold a charge. Sounds like an easy fix to me.
