Dealership unable to remove BAP from order

Hi all. I posted a while ago looking for some advice to help modify my order when my dealership was telling me they couldn't.. however the situation is still unresolved.

I ordered a '23, Atlas, EB, FWD, XLT with CP360, moonroof and the BAP on Sept 19th. In the last week of October, I requested my dealership remove the BAP from my order.

I do not have a VIN number, I am not scheduled for production, I was not in previewing stage and they have told me that they have tried periodically since then to remove it and have been unsuccessful... Quoting that 'their system' is not allowing it.

I've reached out to 5 different Ford sources for resolution. Out of whoever the sales manager of my dealership reaches out to at Ford for assistance, Tim the Ford video guy, Ford Chat, Ford Marketing and two other dealerships.... No resolution has been found. Absolutely nobody else I know in my similar situation has had a problem with modifying their order.

I don't know what else to do. I am hoping somebody out there knows something that can help. I wish there was a source I could contact above my dealership that was able to assist, but so far I've got nothing.

What else can I do to rectify this? Any and all ideas are welcome.....

Tim mentioned that all Mavericks are locked. Not just those being converted or those being previewed. It might be because Ford is still working to convert the cancelled VINs. As a result, there might not be anything the dealer can do until/unless Ford unlocks those orders for modification.

Given the cancelled VINs have to be finalized before Nov 30, I would expect your order to be able to be tweaked some time in December. And given you don't have a VIN yet, you wouldn't be scheduled until after December anyway. So, you should have time to remove it.

Tell the dealer to try to modify the order on a Monday, or a Friday. The system is wonky Tues-Thurs (something to do with Ford scheduling Mavs, moving them to the plant, etc)

Thanks to Tim Bartz for that tip

That's the first explanation that I've received from anybody that makes any kind of sense. However the dealership and Tim must have been unaware that orders are locked up when I asked them because both of them never mentioned it.

I know I have time as long as I don't have a vin, but I'm also unsure from week to week whether or not I'll be scheduled. I requested this 7 weeks ago though...When did Tim say that all Mavericks are locked?

IIRC, in order to get BAP added after an order, the dealer had to select "Black Onyx" as the interior color...perhaps this method will work in reverse? Have your dealer change your interior color to Blue Slate/Navy Pier (or whatever the XLT interior color is) and see if that drops the BAP

Another thanks to Tim

Given I have poor short-term memory, I'm wanting to say he mentioned it during his livestream last night.

That's really, REALLY poor short-term memory 🤣.

But that would explain why I didn't get that information from him or my dealer yet. That would also explain why they can't change my order right now, but doesn't explain why they couldn't change it in the previous 6 weeks. So frustrating!

That's exactly what Tim told me and I went back to my dealer with that. It took them a WEEK to reply but told me that they tried and that did not work. My sales guy felt obliged to add to that message that his sales manager is also getting frustrated. So it seems it's not a lack of them trying, it's definitely something up the chain or their specific system that is causing this issue.

I wouldn't worry about it, just wait for them to get things fixed. It will still be 6 months before you even get a VIN for it.

Tim did say order system was not available last night to make changes. I thought he expected it to be available today to make changes but he couldn’t say for sure. Perhaps still not available? 🤔

I'm a little more optimistic than 6 months. Last year was supposed to take 4 months and I got it in 1 month.

I'll have to review his live stream from last night. Either way, doesn't explain the previous 6 weeks that they didn't make the change.
