Did you say you bought and installed yourself? Sorry if you're having to repeat things for this "mature" fellow.
Not a problem. What are you calling mature? I'm 75 yo myself...not sure about the mature part! Yes, I purchased the optional Vehicle Security System (sold as the Perimeter Security System). I ordered it the same time as I ordered my XL.

With help from this forum, I was able to confirm it is on my truck. As pointed out by others though, it's not the Perimeter Plus that has more features. I'm fine with what I did get with the basic Perimeter system. It was just the distinction between them wasn't clear to me in Ford's materials but thankfully was resolved here. And yes I was disappointed about the lack of garage door opener capability.
Wait, I'm confused. The Perimeter Plus add on for $215 is a shock sensor.

According to the Manual, the Perimeter Alarm(Included on my Lariat Lux) should have Interior Motion Sensors as seen in the manual, but there is no setting in my menu for Alarm?

I believe that a (shock) alarm or tampering alarm is the optional perimeter alarm from Ford that I installed on my XL. I also, purchased a remote start fob that I didn't need as the XL fob provided that task after the perimeter alarm module was installed and linked. I know you have remote start on the Lariat, but the XLs do not.

One way to check whether the shock alarm is installed on your truck is roll the left window down and lock all the doors, which arms the perimeter alarm. Now pound hard on the steering wheel with your fist. Just rocking the truck or jumping up and down on the bumper does not trip the shock alarm, because it monitors access points. You can also check by rolling the left window down and locking all the doors and reach in from the outside and pull the inside door handle. This also trips the perimeter alarm.
Did this also enable the Interior Motion sensors in your Truck? It looks like the Perimeter Plus is just a shock sensor. If not, then the Lariat Perimeter Alarm is supposed to include Interior/Inclination sensors, which mine does not.

I'm not sure of the terminology you call interior Motion sensors.

Motion Detection: The VSS that I installed has motion detectors which I tested by rolling the driver's side window down, getting out, and locking the doors, then pounding hard on the steering wheel. It worked. The motion sensor is not terribly sensitive out of the box, and it does not respond to someone leaning against the truck, bouncing the truck, or by wind. It's designed to go off when someone try to gain access, a window breaking, someone runs into the truck with another vehicle, or other somewhat major shock. But, it is adjustable.

Perimeter/Interior Alarm: The VSS includes access alarms. Once set, if someone breaks a window, or forces the hood open, or forces a door open, and gains access, the alarm goes off. I tested this function by again rolling down the driver's side window, getting out of the truck, and locking the doors, then, reached in the open window and pulled the door handle and opened the door without dialing the alarm, and the alarm sounded.

I'm pleased with the investment of the VSS for $207. What the XL did for perimeter alarm before the installation I did not test, therefore I do not know the extent of protection. Obviously, I know nothing about alarms included with the XLT or Lariat.

Hope this helps some.

I'm referring to the "Interior Sensors" mentioned on Page 85 of the Manual. "Designed to detect any movement inside your vehicle. The interior sensors are in the overhead console." I think these are supposed to be enabled on the XLT/Lariat but are not. I've seen some people say they come with the Perimeter Plus add-on.

That is describing the Shock sensor on the Perimter Plus add on. I am wondering why the Interior motion sensor is not enabled/if it is enabled with the Perimeter Plus.

Dors the XL have this sensor in the overhead console?

I'll answer the last question first. Yes the sensor is located in the overhead console. But I did not test access sensors before installing the VSS.

One of these days when I'm cleaning my Maverick, I'll disable the VSS and test the interior sensor by locking the doors with the driver's side window down and reaching inside and open the door before unlocking with the fob.

One thing that I also do not know. When the VSS module is installed, the truck's computer and the module have to learn each other. If this activates the interior sensor then I'm not sure the VSS module being disabled will matter. Just a thought.

Yes, the shock sensor is in the add-on VSS module and again it has a sensitivity adjustment. I can't for answer for Ford nor can I answer why the interior sensor is not enabled without the added VSS. I can't answer if it was or was not enabled until I test with the VSS disabled. Give me a few days and I'll get around to testing.

OK, thanks.

So to clarify, you're saying you can now lock the truck with the window down, and when you reach in and wave your arm, the Alarm Goes off?

I went to the dealer today, and they did not know if the Interior Sensors should be working. They called someone and the consensus was that they should work without the Perimeter Plus addon.
Said I would have to bring it in for a service appointment to diagnose and see if they could be enabled.

Actually, I have not tried it yet. The only thing I tested was the shock sensor and opening the driver's side door with the alarm activated, window down. I'm in the middle of a Spring yard cleanup so when I get a little caught up, I'll test it.

I'm thinking now that the "Interior Sensors" mentioned in the manual are referring to the shock sensor that requires the additional Perimeter Plus alarm. LC48 found in the service manual what I thought was a motion sensor, is a temperature sensor.

I'm guessing just motion won't set off the alarm, but depending on the sensitivity setting, moving around inside can set off the shock sensor.

It may be possible to adjust the sensitivity on the shock sensor to go off by moving around inside the truck, but I've not played with the adjustment to determine anything. I liked the fact that it took a very hard hit on the steering wheel to set the alarm off. I also like that a jolt, or jumping up and down on the fender or tailgate by someone outside will not set the alarm off.

I'll be glad when wiring diagrams for the Maverick are available without the cost. Then, we can actually determine how things work easily.

I believe the shock sensor is a part of the VSS module, but I could certainly be wrong since the module pairing with the truck's computers could certainly activate an already present shock sensor.

I'm thinking that after I add Katzkin leather and an upgraded audio, that I might look at an aftermarket upgraded security system as well, since those upgrades will be insured.

You have single handedly solved my issue. I can't thank you enough and I'm sure my salesman feels the same way since he wasn't sure either. He knows now though. Thanks man.
Hoping for some help. Your post mentioned "solved my issue". We to don't have an "activated anti-theft system.

Are you, or anyone else, seeing the following setting on your Maverick? I have Lariat with every option -FX4 and this is not a menu item that I see. The following is from the "If Equipped" Anti-Theft Alarm on page 85 of the manual.

I have a fully loaded Lariat, Luxury Package, with the add on Perimeter Plus Package and I still do not have this selection on my menu. Smh Spoke to dealer, said they can’t enable it. Called Ford last week and was told a technician would be calling me. To date, no one has called me back from Ford. Perhaps it is one of the features Ford dropped due to chip shortages. Smh

If it's any help, I also have a fully loaded Lariat with perimeter plus added on and don't have an alarm menu option. I was told by the dealer that upgraded my security system that because it wasn't installed at the factory, it's essentially an aftermarket add on and won't have this menu feature.

I added the setting to mine with Forscan but it doesn't do anything. Whether you set All Sensors or Perimeter Sensing the Perimeter Plus is still active. No way to turn it off.

The setting was meant for vehicles with Interior Motion Sensors, which Maverick doesn't have even though mentioned in the manual, so you could disable the interior sensors.
