Let’s say you order a Maverick and you change your mind that you don’t want it after it arrives? What happens?

Do you have to put a down payment to order one? Does it differ with each Ford dealership?

Actually dealers would just as soon you not take the truck as then they can mark it up.

It varies by dealership. Mine didn't require a deposit. Some do. Some deposits are nonrefundable, which I would not accept. Dealers welcome customers that walk away because they can mark the trucks up to sell on the lot.

Ford does not require a deposit but dealers may. The amount will vary a lot. My dealer originally asked for $1,000 I said no and he said $500. I was OK with that because it gives me some legal standing if things go wrong. Would not have that unless money exchanged hands.

If you place an order and refuse it when it comes you can walk away. However, under the new rules if that happens to a dealer too often ( I think more than 25% of orders) the dealer will be sanctioned by Ford. Which is why dealers are asking for deposits and being careful that you are actually serious.

Make sure to ask if any deposit is refundable if you think you might not take the truck.

I’ll add this to the list:

* Non Binding Order w/ no deposit. The ‘non binding’ verbiage came directly from the Build Your Maverick site in 2021.

My dealer explained it meant I can walk away at any time, no blood. He didn’t require a deposit. MSRP, no games. Sold! Order placed in September (and now waiting the build).

Felt at the time it was too good to be true. Still do.

My dealer told me if I decide not to take the order no big deal, they will make more $$$$ selling it off the lot. I got, or will get on september 15 $500.00 off MSRP. No such deals to be had off the lot I would presume. :ROFLMAO:

I have heard of this, but I would be wary! Have you gotten all the follow-up paper work to show that you actually ordered the truck from your dealer?

I Have, incrementally, spurred originally by the DORA and COVP/ROVP order entry morass, followed by the ‘delete everything you want and maybe you’ll get scheduled” flurry in March.

There is a DORA, and a ROVP and my Dealer knew from the beginning there would be no changes. My Salesman sends updates from the Visibility Report. He knows I’ve recommended him and his Dealership as one of the ‘straight shooters’.

I’ve got a VIN and a moving target of 8-8 for a Build Date. Ford Chat knows I exist. All seems in order.

Loaded Lariat, maybe starts being built next week!

I’ve salted this into other threads w/in this site, but I’ll add it again:

Bredemann Ford, Glenview IL. Chester Gilbert is my guy, stumbled upon accidentally in September, much like I stumbled upon this Maverick accidentally!

And I drive 3.5 miles past the nearest Dealer, who claims they are ‘the highest volume dealer in the Midwest’, to get to Bredemann.

Connect the dots as to the meaning of this as you wish…

I work at a Ford Dealership.

When I place an order we(I) ask for $500 down, which is refundable if they decide to not take their order.

No harm if you back away from your order...it will sell regardless.

Both Dealers are ‘local’, the nearest (the one I drive past…) is 2.5 miles from home. Bredemann is 6 miles.

There are 3 more within 12 miles. So, yes, market saturation, but Chicago is a big midwestern city.

I expected to have to make a deposit, but my dealer said it was up to me. So I made sure to have signed paperwork before I left the dealer many, many months ago. No deposit, and the original paperwork as well as a lengthy trail of emails tying me to my order.

Wow Closest one to me is about 15 miles. But I went to one 30 miles away. But the reason was that NY dealers are open on Sunday and I wanted to beat the Dec price increase. Also have a Doc fee set by law at $175. Used to have one about 5 mikes but they closed and became a Toyota dealer.
