Black truck is AWD FX4 lariat. Blue truck is First Edition hybrid lariat.

FX4 is surprisingly short.

Neither truck is mine, but cool to see them side by side.

Maybe lowered? Fx4 should absolutely have the most ground clearance and be taller.

Not necessarily. The FX4 doesn't inherently have any extra ground clearance unless you get the optional wheels where the extra height comes from the 235/65R17 tires.

I think the angle is playing some in favor of the hybrid. And the AWD is gonna be some 250 lbs heavier.

The FX4 had nothing but one wooden board in the bed. The first maverick i saw at the dealer was also an FX4 and I thought it seemed short at the time. Pretty sure it has no height advantage over my XLT hybrid (which isn’t in the photo). Maybe someone else can witness them in person and give their 2 cents, but the two FX4 mavericks i’ve seen appeared shorter to me.

Looks like the black one has a stubby antenna. So likely the black one has other mods as well. Like maybe a lowering kit.

The rear end of an AWD seems to be lower than the FWD
Since I recently swapped form a FWD to an AWD I noticed immediately that the wheel gap was smaller
I didn’t measure but the FWD always looked extra tall in the rear

FWD tends to sit more tail-high... In addition, the height difference in 225 vs 235 tires is ~.35" , which can be easily overcome or tweaked with +- a few Lbs. of air pressure.

It would be odd to lower an FX4 AWD

Maybe the blue one was lifted, or had larger tires put on ;)

Why is that?
My FX4 AWD will be lowered this week
Because FX4 is marketed as more off-road purposed. Higher ground clearance typically goes hand-in-hand with off-roaders.
Pretty sure this FX4 as well as the new one at the dealer I saw have not been lowered.

But yeah, my post is not to debate with you about your upcoming mod. Just a general statement as to why I doubt this FX4 is lowered.
