In tonight's livestream Tim has confirmed that the temperature readout on the dial was removed as a JOB 2 change. This means that those Mavericks currently being built and MY23 going forward will not have the readout.

This has also been noted in some recently delivered Mavericks.

This thread also has details on this change:

No more temp read out on dial?

No evidence forthcoming but suspect the remaining stock of temp controls with digital readout have been set aside and reserved for installation in First Edition models.

I currently have a MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid with the temperature readout on the dial and I love having that feature.

I do plan to order a MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid with mostly the same options I had before but will add the missing trailer hitch and remove the pretty useless Rear Sliding Window. If Eruption Green is also available I will change to that color.

I will sell my current Maverick XLT Hybrid to Carvana and use the proceeds for the new purchase.

So what options are there to add the missing the temperature readout on the dial. I have seen some posts about swapping in a unit from a Bronco, Escape etc.

My question is has anyone done that and if so did it work?

I just took a gamble for about $30.85 that it will by buying this unit:

A/C Heater Control 2021 Ford Ecosport GN15-18C612-CL 2018 2019 2020 2022 2023

Edit: I canceled the $30.85 order and bought this one for $54.37

2020 2021 Ford Escape AC Heater Temperature Control Unit OEM

The above unit looks like an exact copy with the addition of the heated seats control and indicators. Hopefully those will just be inactive and not cause any issues.

There is an exact unit for the Maverick but that is listed for $170 + sales tax. So I skipped buying that one.

On a Hybrid the AC runs off the HV battery so keeping it on high has the AC running constantly causing the HV battery to lose charge which will result in the ICE engine running more often to keep it charged resulting in lower MPG numbers.

I keep mine at 78 so the AC only runs when the inside temperature is above that number.

Think about the number like your AC thermostat is in your home. If you had your home AC set to run all the time no matter what the temperature was in your home it would probably get into the 60's.

Not only would you feel like you are freezing but your electric bill would get outrageously high.

Based on what? Exact details on private offers TBA, but the assumption they will not be either pro-rated or negated dependent upon certain changes to the initial order is premature and pure speculation.

That part you bought looks like it is in pretty rough shape. You're going to put that in a new truck?

I mean to each their own but I think having inactive buttons (for heated seats) would be a bigger deal to me. I also want the temp readouts on the dials, so I'll probably end up spending more for the best condition/new Maverick unit I can find.

I think the temp readout is still on the 8" screen which, of course, is still much less convenient but there. If I had my druthers I would vote to keep it but Ford never called me for my opinion so now I must live without it. :ROFLMAO: :D

On my XLT the SET temperature is only shown when the knob is turned. It is not shown constantly on either the default screen or if Android Auto (Google Maps) is running.

Also I have not heard from anyone as to what if anything the center display shows when MAX AC is ON. The display on the knob with MAX AC ON shows "Lo" for that setting. How about "Hi". What does the center display show for those two settings?

This is a major PITA for me.

Anyone know if there is a hard cutoff date for this change? Mine was built 05/04. I heard some people say Cinco de Mayo was the cutoff date, some people say it’s during that week or the next.

I have canceled the order because of the yellow stuff on the electrical pins.

I now have this one on order for $54.37 total cost:

2020 2021 Ford Escape AC Heater Temperature Control Unit OEM

It appears to be in very good condition.

When it arrives I will verify that it works in my current 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid and post results here.

Could you do this?

  • Keep your current truck right up until you buy the new one.
  • Go to Carvana, get your quote and the offer to buy. Should be good for 7 days.
  • Don't sell them the truck just yet.
  • Go get your new truck.
  • Swap out the controls while you have both vehicles in your possession.
  • Now now sell your first truck to Carvana.
  • Apply the proceeds to any outstanding loan amount you might have, if any..
  • ?
