5 minute swap time…. Way easier than changing it in a Bronco Sport
The tough part will be finding a Maverick specific controller (this one has a picture of a Bronco Sport on the recirc button AND this has a general defrost button instead of purely mirrors since Mavericks didn’t get rear defroster)

I got this controller from a junkyard via eBay…. Make sure the auction has clear pictures so you don’t get a junky panel for your new truck (First one I got in had a scratched screen)

Our controller is in a piece only held on with 4 clips, just grab and pull
It is seriously the easiest swap ever

Nice job. I actually did the swap on my wifes Bronco Sport, way way harder, you have to pull half the dash off. I've pulled the HVAC controller off on my Maverick when I added Nav, I can see how it would be a very simple swap but I was lucky enough to be one of the last Maverick's to get the temp knobs.

So mine should be getting built soon. that means I wont have the temp but I will have it on the Nav screen ? just checking ... not a biggie for me since that is how my ranger functions LOL
There is one temp on the screen on my XLT (not Sync 3). I think it's the outside temp. When I turn the temp control knob it shows a large temperature number and a graphic to show me turning it up or down.

How much would one gain MPG by not using the a/c? I drive around Montgomery AL and its hot. I always have it running at fan speed 2-3 and temp 60-65. Even on my trips to Birmingham and back. I am averaging 44mpg overall and trips in town I regulary get close to or 50mpg.

Good question. I was wondering the same thing, as my mileage with continuous a/c use is similar to yours. Now all we need to do is find someone willing to suffer enough to find out....'cause it sure ain't gonna be me! 😉

Modern a/c compressors don’t have the drag the “vintage” ones did
I think an official test was done (Maybe Mythbusters?) and the gain from not having the a/c is negated by rolling down the windows
So that should tell you how much you gain by having the a/c off
Turning down low literally doesn’t do anything
The compressor being on was the drag on the system not the fans

Hey, who said we were gonna roll the windows down?? 😜

Yeah, I've read articles with similar conclusions. As I recall, they reported a marginal benefit at best at lower speeds...and nothing at all on the highway.

Not a big deal to lose the readout. As I have seen, if flashes on the touch screen as you change the temp. Since I don't constantly keep changing temps, and during the summer often just drop the windows, I can really care less if there's a readout on the dial or not.

I can confirm that it is a simple swap over of the buttons from a Bronco Sport/Escape. I swapped in the buttons to my Mav from an Escape yesterday. I also bought a unit from a Bronco Sport too but liked the Escape controls better. I have the assembly for the Bronco Sport listed for sale in the classifieds section here if anyone is interested...

Hey, who said we were gonna roll the windows down?? 😜
Around here (Central Texas), if you're in the car with A/C off and windows rolled up, you're going to die... 🥵 It's just a matter of time...

But seriously, that is just not an option when it 108º and there's not a cloud in the sky. Temps inside the cab can get to 140º in just a few minutes. That's part of the reason I absolutely LOVE remote start with climate control activating at your last setting. Makes life SO much better.

Has anyone else done this yet?
I’m curious if any side effects have been noticed

It was like pulling teeth but I was able to get the dealer to pay for the Bronco HVAC unit that I swapped in. I decided to leave the Bronco button on it, doubt if anyone outside of this forum would ever notice it! Also added a set of knob rings so that they match up with the Audio knobs.

What do you mean?
The dealer installed it for you? You paid for them to do it or they did it in their dime?
