Like many here, I'm planning on placing an order when the 2023 window opens in August. If I have it correct, I will build my truck on the ford site, then bring my build to a Ford Dealer of my choosing. Dealers with a large order history will be allocated more trucks... but some will have mark ups, non refundable deposits, etc.

I've never ordered a new vehicle and I find it all confusing. Is the a short list of criteria I should use to find a good fit? I don't mind traveling to find the best deal / dealer.

Thanks

For me:

1. Will sell me the Maverick at MSRP when it comes in. No games, no hassles.
2. No deposit, refundable or otherwise. This is a personal decision, though. For me, I have resigned myself on waiting close to a year and that is too long for someone to be sitting on a chunk of my change. Too many things can happen over a year, especially at my age.
3. The dealer FULLY understands, that yes, one can lock in pricing and Ford financed interest rates at time of ordering. They just need to know how to handle the paperwork or computer data entry. FordVideoGuy covered this at the beginning of Episode 44 and even showed how the salesperson needs to enter the data to make that happen. Come armed with all the info at your disposal. Leave nothing to chance,
4. Does the dealer even know that currently the ordering for MY23 starts on August 15? I found one that did not. See you later. If they do not at least know the basics, then I cannot expect them to know the more involved aspects of the transaction. Walk away.
5. Pray.

Looks like you are about 3 hrs from Long McArthur Ford. Why not just contact Tim? @fordvideoguy

I've been worrying about this a lot since, If I do decide to order in August, this will also be my first new car purchase. Never been through the process before and the added steps to make sure the order is actually placed are nerve-racking.

Whatever you do, put the dealers name in google followed by forum and do a search. See if they have been screwing people with added fees. If so even if they are not adding fees anymore find another. Its time for these scums to pay..

Assumably he has a long wait list for AUG15... So extra long wait for there.
My dealer is great. None of the bullshit, but figured that would be too much of a hike. Being I’m in upstate NY.

I am sure they have quite a list. However, Tim has said multiple times in his videos that they are not going to hold people's spots and wait for them to put in an order before moving on to people that have done the paperwork and have everything ready to go the day the order banks open. The way the system works is LM will put in orders when the bank opens for everyone who has done the process. How many people are ready to go the day the order banks open is really dependent on when the order guides come out. If the order guides are available a week or two before the order banks open LM will probably have a lot of orders ready to submit day one. If the order guides come out the same day or the day before the order banks open then LM will likely have a lot of people on the list who haven't finalized when they are able to start entering orders.

In short, put your name on the 2023 list with Tim. LM is a large dealership that has sold a lot of Mavericks. They should do pretty well with allocations for 2023. Be ready to finalize your order as soon as the order guides appear so LM can enter it day one. Even being far down the list you will probably end up ahead of a lot of people who put their name on the list before you but didn't move quickly once ordering was available.

ETA: I can also tell you from experience that if you need help or to change something you can get Tim on the phone and/or via email quite quickly. He and LM are extremely responsive and helpful. I'm in NC (I lived in Kansas City for almost six years) and I'm willing to travel out there to pick up a Maverick.

i too have never bought a build on line. I was practicing with ordering a 22 ranger on line
I built it. Then response said "see internet prices". a form came up for me to fill out.
having no experience what comes up next after i fill out requested info from the local dealer (btw, ft lauderdale, fl). Is that what LANDRIC was referring to when he said "fill out the order form".

I physically walked into Granger Ford about a month ago. At that time they were getting 15 Mavs a month and had Aprox 300 on order.

Not sure they have the bandwidth. Am I wrong?

I'm in KC, I should have order with them previously...I may go ahead for the 23. I ordered in OCT with Granger and no success yet, might as well order a 23 since the updates for the new news may be something I want.
