Question for Lariat owners about proximity lock / unlock

Just received my Maverick yesterday and love it so far! One thing I’ve noticed that is different from my other vehicles with proximity key/ lock and unlock , is that even when the door is unlocked, when I grab the driver handle to open it (with key in my pocket) the solenoids or whatever attempt to unlock again despite already being unlocked. Seems like a lot of wear and tear to engage over and over again. Are others experiencing this or is something up with my intelligent access. Thanks in advance.

I just went out and tried this on my truck and the same thing happens, it tries to unlock every time regardless if the door is locked or not. Of all the things I worry about when it comes to owning a first year vehicle this ranks somewhere between "don't care" and "whatever".

Glad you asked this. This is my first new vehicle in a very long time. Mine seems very noisy/active. There are times it clicks and makes noise when I walk by without the key on me. My wife says it is just happy to see my. No issues, just different that what I'm used to but wondered if it happened to all of them. Proximity sensing I guess?

I locked my doors, went shopping and when returning I grab the door handle and pull. No unlocking noise at all and door opens. I was concerned until I locked up, put the fobs far away and tried the door. LOCKED UP TIGHT.

Mine does this too. It's annoying, especially for the lights to flash every time you go to open the door when it's already unlocked. Maybe they can fix this via software in the future because it just seems like poor programming

Wait until you wash and wax it. Key can be sitting on boat next to it. It will make all kinds of noise from locks. Bronco Sport is the same. Noises just walking by it at times. Keys is in the house.

Mine has done that,too. The random noises when no key around appear to be the vehicle “coming to life” to connect to cellular service for ford pass functions. I noticed the same exact sounds when using my Apple Watch to lock or unlock the truck. There can be about a 15-20 second delay and then it starts buzzing and whining before the doors unlock.

@Ford Motor Company - even though it doesn't seem like this is a defect since every lariat tries to unlock itself when you reach for the handle even if it's already unlocked, is this something that could be fixed in the future with a software update or something? It's just kind of annoying.

Omg I’m glad I’m not the only one. This has carried over into their 2025 models and I find it quite annoying. Wondering how it’s holding up for everyone as it would make sense to just unlock one time.
